Well I hope that Santa Claus brings a new Kubota to all, and to all a good night!

Ya know, my BX deserves something for Xmas! Gonna have to give that some thought. Maybe an orange colored Stihl battery chainsaw to ride along as his buddy! :D

I do like how you think, I like orange too! Kubotas need buddies too! Just think how much different the world would be if there had just been Kubotas available at the time of that first Christmas.

Read all the messages and IMO the OP was misled by the dealer when he was told to wait and the dealer ought to make good on this!
I can see the logic of the Kubota rep, but there is another factor that's being disregarded by Kubota & the dealer, "Customer Acquisition Cost" Kubota & Dealer ought to take this into consideration, what it would cost them to replace this customer and also this customer is a "Repeat" customer much more valuable than a one off. Looks like this is not being considered by Kubota and is being taken for granted by the dealer. Alas this trend is spreading and wil lead to more business failures.

Yep....

How much was the customer charged and how long was he without a serviceable machine ?

Also, I have not operated a 2680 -- is it really possible to leave the parking brake on for an extended period of time ? On smaller BX's that is NOT possible.

My property has some hills, so it's bucket down or brakes often. I've been known to not notice the little dash parking brake warning light. So I installed a much brighter LED warning light using the existing switch (which provides a switched ground). Now it's harder to ignore, even in bright sunlight, and I've finally got in the habit of pushing on the brake pedal when I get in the cab.

I imagine Kubota sees quite a few trashed brakes due to operator error running with parking brake on, I've done it, but only for a short while and no apparent lasting damage. I can understand why they'd tend to exclude this kind of damage, but the OP's extenuating circumstances make it a more questionable call.

Few years back, wife's Highlander battery left her stranded at the 26 month mark (warranty is 24 months), a shorted cell, an unusual failure mode in a 2 year old battery that was never abused. Rest of the cells measured fine. Searching on-line, found others suffered the same fate with this particular OEM part. I didn't expect a new battery, just asked for a discount on a replacement - battery should last at least 5 years. Dealership gave us the cold shoulder. I've purchased 4 new vehicles from them over the years. No more. At least with car dealerships, there are more choices.

I've read and re-read the opening post a few times and I'm still not certain of the chain of events or who said what to who.

Did the dealer say 'We're too busy right now to check on it so just use it, you'll be fine'.

Or was it more like:

Dealer; 'We're really busy and it might be a few days.'
Customer; ' I can't really leave it right now, can I bring it in later since I don't really use the brakes?'
Dealer; 'Yeah, that should be OK'.

I'm not sure it should make that much difference though. It still sounds like a mechanical defect rather than customer mis-use.

I would say mechanical problem that turned into a customer problem. I know this wasn't a customer caused issue, but from a dealer/rep perspective it has all the appearances of a customer that run with the parking brake on.

This would be bad. But when I believe I’m right, I tend to make my point.

Pay the dealer to “fix it”.
Take it home.
Drive around with a heavy foot on the brakes for a couple days.
Call the dealer and tell them something still isn’t right.
Have them fix it on their dime this time.
Demand refund and apologies for first time.

Now that is an interesting approach, I would have never though of doing something like that. I can just imagine the conversation when the dealer rejects the warranty claim a second time. How about we try to operate our machines in a sensible manner and get the maximum about of useful life out of them? That would be my approach.
