After skimming through 6 pages of bottom lines, is the tractor fixed yet? Thats what I was looking for, that post. If not and if the dealer isn't and kobota isn't going to fix the tractor it's time for a plan B...

Ether pay the dealer to fix it or I suggest fix the brakes your self, how hard can brakes be to fix on a BX tractor, just a bunch of bolt turning and torquing, and why do bearings have to be replace for just those few what was it 200 hr. and why $1000.00, what does brake pads cost? All's needed is drain fluid, remove brake housing, it only gets hard if gears have to come apart and thats only inside trans on a manual. Best of luck and Merry Christmas.

Metal in the HST oil.

Yes it was fixed, they had to split the back part to get to the brakes inside the housing. Concerned about bearings from the metal shavings off of the brakes.

So it is fixed now 628pm? So what did THEY say was the cause for all the problems?

What was the cost of the brake job, did they have to replace bearings?

On my tractor the brake housing unbolts, still have to drain fluid, how does one know if brakes are gone? two years ago I had mine apart, the brake pad was only 1/16" thick but still stops good.

Yes, excellent question. What did the mechanic who took it apart and fixed it say !!?? Not what the Kubota rep said nor the dealer desk guy. You can bet one thing -- he did not say you were riding the brakes !

Hmmm.....seems to have went quiet all of a sudden. Maybe the evil Kubota corp silenced him, LOL.

I thought I posted the cost. It was 1053.00. Mechanic didn’t say anything to me. The rep is the one who denied my request for warranty coverage. I have the bad parts from the brakes, will post pictures in the next couple of days.

Haven’t been on forum been kind of busy with family during Xmas.

I only mentioned the warning light because the OP asked for an opinion by a mechanic. I'm a mechanic....and I was just pointing out that one of the first things that is going to occur to any mechanic is checking how to tell if the brakes are dragging on that machine. The consequences are obvious.

I agree. I think you accurately described what happened here.

I think the situation that Kubota focused on was that the pedal was sticking down. This was known by the owner/operator. Nothing was done to recognize this as a problem. The owner/operator simply pulled the pedal up with his foot. This obviously did not stop the brake from being partially engaged. This engagement caused brake damage.

Had this problem been addressed the first time the pedal stuck down we would not be having this conversation.

So I would ask all involved in this conversation. Does your tractor have a minor operational quirk? Do you simply ignore it? Might want to rethink that. :)

Slack in the peddle doesn't cause brake wear.
But when his peddle went down and wouldn't return the brakes for whatever reason were apparently stuck on and continuing to drive with the brakes stuck on burned of the lining.

Bingo. Yahtzee. Or whatever your favorite game is. :)

I don't see anything here that is Kubota's fault? But ya, you should all stop buying them so they lose business and their prices come down and I can buy more cheaper, LOL.

I like how you think!!! :)
