first major bummer with my tractor

Hey guys - this right front hydraulic leak - that should be covered under warranty - correct - the delalers around here are quite shabby - and they would rather charge you the customer then take care of a warranty issue and get their $ from mahindra. the 2 dealers that i have and am dealing with.

That aspect to me has been the negative of my mahindra experience.

When you say right front, it has no meaning to anyone but you. Try being specific in describing the exact area of the leak. If it is coming from a fitting, any tractor owner should be able to tackle this with a couple of wrenches. If the leak is due to a faulty part, it should be covered under warranty. Unless you can fix it, plan on taking the tractor to your dealer. Dealers are not reimbursed by Mahindra for transporting customers' tractors.

I've had my mower off atleast a dozen times now, I find it overall pretty easy process. It gets easier every time it's done, and the only way to get familiar with the tractor. I just clocked 22 hours, and torqued the loader hardware, and greased everything. With practice it gets easier.

I call BS AchingBack, any leak should be covered by warranty, if Mahindra doesn't like the warranty cost, use better seals. I didn't buy a brand new tractor to be wrenching on it, I had one of those and I traded it for my 4035. I agree that Mahindra doesn't reimburse the dealer for warranty pick ups and that's why I'm really flexible with my dealer on pick up and drop off days. If you buy a new Chevy truck would you be happy with a leak, and the dealer only throws you the replacement part, and says, "here you go, fix it"

i have to have it towed a long way and was just curious. but as far as fixing it - it had better be under warranty. also this is for dave's tractor or another dealer - can you take it to any mahindra dealer or the guy you bought it from. reason the guy i bought it from is a piece of work....

He's saying find the leak. If all it is, is a loose fitting its a lot faster and easier to try to tighten it up yourself than haul it to and from the dealer

Not sure what I said you are in disagreement with. If your brand new tractor has a leak due to a loose fitting, are you going to go to your tool box, grab two wrenches and tighten it, or are you going to go without the ability to use it, call the dealer and have a mechanic grab two wrenches and tighten it?

Where is the leak? And yes, you can take it to any Mahindra dealer.

No offense - but the very experienced tractor guy i knew and finally asked who rebuilds antiques and has 3-4 farm tractors of his own that he uses - he seen the leak and said have them do it under warranty so it looked to him and me - and no don't bust my **** - a seal of some sort - if it was tightenable he would have said so and i would do it. it looked more major and as far as the exact place - i did not check due to my schedule and i needed to get the mower issue and grass cut first. i would be more than happen to tighten something if i could - i am also neding my 50 hr total redo on the maintenance end so that is also why i have to get that doen too.

oh yes - and the reason i bought it was for my 'aching back' - crippling arthritis in 35 parts of my body.

I may have come off a little strong AchingBack, but if the dealer preps the tractor correctly and checks it over before delivery, there should be no leaks. Some of the fittings are very hard to get to, and sometimes, tightening them can do more harm than good. If an o-ring is already torn or twisted, tightening it can actually make it leak worse.

I had an oil pressure sending unit start leaking on my 4035 (190 hrs) I tried to get a wrench on it, and could not, and I tried all kinds of wrenches. After talking to the dealer, he told me that they made a special wrench for that sensor, and tightening it would only make it worse.

My biggest problems with my Mahindra has been hydraulic leaks, I'm assuming that Mahindra uses the cheapest seals available. That being said, I did change transmission/hydraulic fluid when I changed my filter at 100 hrs. It was easier than trying to catch and reinstall the original fluid. I refilled with Traveller Premium UTF from Tractor Supply. Since then the leaks have seemed to increase; it may be no coincidence at all, but I'm going to do my part and dump it, and re-fill with MobilFluid 424.

Tomorrow I need to call the dealer again to tell them the seat is starting to crack, (armrests have already been replaced for the same reason) All in all I think Mahindra makes a workhorse, but they skimp on the smaller stuff.

Why didn't you take the shaft off then try to get it to free up while its easier to mess with
