I think the holes in shoes may be why the Amish in my area go bare foot most all the time. I remember taping the old black Tennis shoes with tar tape. The sole would separate from the canvas top so we would just wrap tar tape around the toe. MY grand nieces and nephews would not be caught with a dirty pair of "Athletic Foot Ware" as they are called now.

Hah. Our kids and grandkids are just too prosperous I guess. My girls were extremely brand conscious and wouldn't dare to be seen with their mother in Walmart.

I feel extremely fortunate that my 17 year-old daughter loves shopping in the thrift store. She loves walking out proclaiming that she got two "new" outfits for under $2.00!
