Yesterday, Karen and I drove to work together (our offices are a few block away in downtown Troy, NY). When we get home, whoever isn't driving gets the mail when we stop at our mailbox at the end of our long driveway. Karen got the mail yesterday, and ran back to the truck shouting " We got it!!!"! "It" was of course the latest issue of Countryside!!! We both sat in the truck, and checked the table of contents. There listed on page 119 was "Small Animal Auction"!!! Even though we've both read the story before, we both joyfully read it again! There's just something special about seeing your friend's work in a national publication!! We were so excited!!!
Later the phone rang, and Karen answered it. It was a neighbor asking to borrow our round bale spear. Karen said to come on over but first she said..."You get Countryside don't you?" Our friend confirmed that she did. Karen told her to go get the issue she got today, and turn to page 119. When our friend did, Karen proudly told her that our friend wrote the story!!
Later when the couple came over for the spear, they remarked how they enjoyed the story, and it reminded them of our one of our local auction places, and they knew just how the author felt, and reminded them that they'll never put any critters in it again!!! They said they really enjoyed the story!!!
I think the name C. J. Mouser is going to be a wellknown name in rural America. That article will be the first of many!!!!
Way to go Cindi!!! We're all so proud of you!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
