where did you get your new implements? your operation has really grown.

Thanks for the compliment. I have worked very hard to make this become a system that will help many. I see it becoming Very Productive now. The equipment I purchased will allow me to have more time to put in making sure the land is taken care of and lining up where the food is distributed to do the most good. I hope to make it produce enough food to help others and maybe sell some that will help me recoupe some of the initial cost. But the Most Important thing is to help those eat that need it.

We haven't had many donations lately but God has provided the things we needed. I purchased the seed and plants this year but they were a small discount on some of it so I didn't have to pay full price. We need a little more than a ton of fertilizer now 10-10-10 or better. Maybe I will be able to get this... the price of fuel has driven the price up and my money has almost completely depleted that I had saved to do this years crop. The installation of the irrigation system was a huge amount but was absolutely a needed expense. I am getting to old to drag 1000 ft of hose up and down the hill

I purchased the disc from an individual that had purchased them and they were too big for his tractor. He had kept them in storage for about a year. I saw them while attending my son's wedding and asked if he would be interested in selling them. He priced them and I purchased them about a week later.

The other pieces of equipment were purchased New from Dickson's Tractor Company in Westminster, SC. I dealt with Randy Dickson. He has always helped us keep our equipment cost to a minimum. I know that the equipment purchased from Randy at Dickson's Tractor Company will be stood behind and I can get parts if needed. He has the best prices on Tractors and Equipment in our area. If you ever want to purchase equipment or a tractor and more, he would be a place to keep in mind. He also delivers. Email me if you would like his contact information. I am not sure I can post it here. If it's ok... someone please tell me it's OK and I will post his contact info here on this thread.

Jim

By the way:

Here is a picture of a couple of tomato plants. We have purchased three rolls 6"x6" 5 feet wide - 150 ft in length concrete wire to make cages for the tomato plants. This should help in production of tomatoes. We need three more rolls 150 feet each roll to complete the caging process. We have approx. 200 tomato plants and I can get 33 cages from each roll of wire 150 feet in length that is in good condition.

Mr. Bonham, I know the Lord will bless you for this project and following His leading. I thank you for the example you have set.

One suggestion for the hydrants, from experience. I would sink a treated 4x4 beside them and strap clamp the hydrants to the posts. They have a much better chance of surviving a collision whether it be the tractor or wheelbarrow. Even an impact small enough to slightly move the hydrant will in some cases be enough to crack a pvc fitting and since they are live lines end up in a leak. A big enough impact would mean gyser time! Another idea might be a cut off upstream of the hydrants in case of a break, that way you would only loose the hydrants and not the whole system if you had to shut it down for repairs.

Thanks again for your efforts and Blessings on ya, Craig

Hello Craig,

We plan on putting 1 inch rebar beside them that is driven in the ground about 3 to 4 feet then securing the hydrants to the rebar. That should protect them. It's too close in to put in 4x4's I think. We did install a cut-off just for those Gyser Times :( ;) Hopefully that won't happen after securing them to the 1 inch rebar. Thank you for your suggestion. I have worked very hard to make this become a reality. Anything I can do to protect the people that have made donations and my investment, I will do as well. This food project has and will continue to help the people that need it as long as I am able to do it and I have made arrangements to keep it going even if something happens to me.

Hi Scott,

The irrigation is still a Life Saver. We are in such a drought as lots of people are in. We did get about 1/4 inch of rain a few days ago. I do see a difference between the rain and the well water. Seems the rain pulls things up from the ground quicker. I'm not sure why... I know the well water is good and it has been tested. Could be the difference in the temperature of the water. But that's just a guess

I have added many more songs to the gift if you would like to revisit the page.

Thank you again. May God Bless You & Yours! Click on Picture for a Our Thanksgiving Gift!
