We got 2 inches of rain in a Thunderstorm last night in about 20 to 30 minutes. . /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Of course that caused severe erosion. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif It even caused erosion in the lower part of the garden where it is mostly flat. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I will take some pictures later today and see if anyone has some suggestion on how to prevent it. I guess it could have been worse but all that work just washed down the hill. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have considered putting is a storm drain. Ouch that would be expensive but maybe just one to catch the first large part of run off. Maybe even a french drain a couple of places across above the planting areas. If I had a backhoe... I would have already installed a couple of french drains. This may could have prevented the erosion. What are your thoughts?

Terraces. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif could make irrigation a lot more efficient too.

Or a flatter place to put yor garden. Jim, Dickson's carry lienbach line , do they not have any pows? they use to have a lot. What about powell bros, oakway tractor, oconee implements. All the tractor places we have, someone should have some plows. Toccoa GA. and Carnesville are just a hop away, try there. Theres a Ford and John Deere in Carnesville.

Hi everyone!

Well I did it today. Really something to brag about. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I broke my eyeglasses. $448.00 down the drain. I was working on the errosion problem and must have taken them off and laid them on the tractor to wipe away the sweat and forgot about putting them back on as I need them for driving and distant site... not close up. At any rate I ran them over and broke them beyond repair, including frames. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif What a dreadful day. This day really cost me.

Oh well... God will provide the way to replace them.

Keep the faith.

OK today was much more productive:

11 Hills of Cucumber Sweet Slice Hybrid

16 Eggplants

400 feet of Clemson Okra Spineless

156 Yellow Squash Plants
( 100 Yellow Summer Crookneck Squash )
( 56 Dixie Hybrid Squash )

10 Hills of Sandia Crimson Sweet Watermelon

I also replaced all sweeps with New Ones on my Lienbach One Row Cultivator

All & All... a Very Productive Day I think. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Hi Scotty...

Unfortunately the ONLY alternative I know of from getting old... is dying young. I hope to avoid that choice. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Another productive 12 hour day!

I worked more on the erosion problem and cut some breaks to slow water and redirect it.

Replowed and repaired the erosion damage in the garden areas that weren't planted. Used hoe to repair the areas planted.

Then I cultivated the areas of plants that are coming up... including the potatos.

Hand cultivated the 22 tomato plants that are Blooming already.

Now for the planted items of today.

7 Hills of Sandia Jubilee Watermelon

120 feet of Okra Lee

Planted 75 feet of Carrots

75 feet of Broccoli

75 feet of Cauliflower

100 feet of Lettuce Green Towers

75 feet of All Purpose Cabbage

55 feet of Chinese Cabbage

180 feet Prolific Straightneck Squash

180 feet of Crookneck Squash

I guess it was a very productive day. We are suppose to get rain tonight or tomorrow and the next several days. I hope it is a soaking rain rather than downpours with thunderstorms.
