Hello Jim!

I just came across your post last night and was wondering where exactly are you in Westminster, I'm nearby in Anderson County and was thinking that when time permits I could swing by and check your project out and possibly help a little. Since the first post up until now, you've made some serious progress. Truly a inspirational and encouraging walk of faith!

thanks for what you're doing!
Steve

Hi Steve... you should see the progress we have made now. With the irrigation system installed we have really became very productive. Hope to see you soon.

Jim,
The next range hotter plug was recommended to me earlier today by a family member and now you suggested the same thing so I am going to give it a try. It has been a while since I rebuilt any engines (actually 30 years or maybe a little longer). Tractors are a little different than a pick-up and cars, depending on how deep the work goes. I have the tools and probably the ability but not sure that I have the desire. I am going to try all the easy fixes prior to a rebuild.
Thanks for the offer.
Farwell

I never heard how this worked for you. Hope to hear from you soon.

Jim Bonham

To Whom it May Concern:

I am Jim Bonham from Westminster, SC. I have developed a program called "Lighthouse Food Program" I developed this program to help the people that can not get Help from the Food Stamp Program, the elderly, people needing help to survive while getting new training for a new line of work when their place of work closed down like the textile industry, or who are too prideful to ask for Help. We also donate to the Soup Kitchens in the Tri-County area.

Our plans are to eventually make this program grow Nationwide with SC being the Leader and Founder of this food program. My plans are to coordinate the homeless people in each area to actually run the Food Program in exchange for a place to call home and to have food for themselves and also produce food for the needy.

We have been doing this for a while now. This is the fourth year we have operated. The name of my business is "Bonham Enterprise's". There is more information on the history of our project at my web site page called the "Lighthouse Entertainment". The web address is: Lighthouse Entertainment at Bonham Enterprise's - www.JimBonham.com . Please visit this page to see pictures of a couple of our land plots to see what it looks like this year since we have installed an irrigation system to help in case of a drought. There is also an animated tractor to click on that will show how we cleared the land and established the land for the food project.

Because of the economy, our donations have been very little this year compared to the past years. We need plants, seeds and chicken manure because we are totally organic. We also need some fruit trees, blueberries, strawberries, grapes and or muscadine grapes. You will see in the pictures that we have grassed waterways to control erosion. We want to utilize every possible square foot of this land for food production. The grapes, blueberries and fruit trees would allow us to do this. Especially the blueberries since they are known to be very healthy berries.

Since we have installed the irrigation system, the large chicken manure spreader truck can not get in to spread the manure so we are in need of a PTO driven manure spreader trailer to pull behind our tractor. See picture below:

R80-50 PTO Manure Spreader.gif

We could also us a Roto-Tiller that is PTO driven to use with our tractor. Our tractor is on it's last legs and we are trying to get a new tractor that is larger to increase our productivity. Any help you could provide would be Greatly appreciated. Please feel free to call me at any time to discuss this further or to ask questions concerning our project.

I feel your pain when it comes to clearing and preparing property for gardens. I am currently clearing an area roughly the size of an acre that is heavily wooded and covered with underbrush. So far, I have been doing it the hard way but when my new tractor arrives, the task will be MUCH easier, especially digging stumps and rooting ground.

On a side note, I hate Kudsu vines!

I am planning on purchasing a NEW Tractor for the Food Program. I was drawn to a Kubota until I read about their warrany not covering when you used a implement that wasn't theirs.

I have now began to lean heavily toward a Kioti DK40SE with the Kioti KL401 FEL and the Kioti KB2485 Backhoe. With a ROPS with Sunshade Top. Their Warranty is 4 Years and the dealer is Randy Dickson in Westminster, SC which is only about 4 miles from our place.

Has anyone had any dealings with Kioti? Good or Bad? Please let me know so I do not make the same mistakes purchasing a New Tractor as I did with the Shibaura SD 2200SD 4x4! Thank you in advance for your time. By the way, what is a fair market value trade for the Shibaura? He has offered to buy it if I purchase the Kioti from him.

Jim

My business "Bonham Enterprise's" made a donation of $1,500.00 to the "Lighthouse Food Program" to purchase a New 6 foot HOWSE tiller for the tractor this year and a Donation of $500.00 to purchase plants for the food program. Giving a Total of $2,000.00. I would like to challenge my friends here to donate ONLY 0.1% of their donation, which would be $2.00 each to the "Lighthouse Food Program" to help with the purchase of more plants and fertilizer. You can go to our page "Lighthouse Entertainment at Bonham Enterprise's - www.JimBonham.com" and click on the donation button. You may choose the amount by typing in your donation amount.

You can see the tiller that Bonham Enterprise's purchased below.
