Fittings to go into the diverter? Those usually are something other than JIC.

Also are you sure the tractor loader lines you'll be connecting to are JIC-8? That sounds large. I think mine are 6. Or maybe those fittings are for something else.

The fittings to go into the diverter are the SAE #8 to JIC 8 straight through. And I got the JIC 8 from some posts above where they took what is in my manual and said it corresponds to JIC 8. I also double checked that with surplus center.

I did notice I'm missing the male pioneer AG (ISO 5675) connections. Does it matter if I get a poppet valve or ball valve on the male side? The grapple I'm looking at doesn't specify what the female is.

The poppet valve style is supposed to hook up better under pressure,
it is easier to depress and release pressure.

I would suggest measuring to out side diameter of the tubing and loosen one of the fittings to measure the thread OD before ordering supplies. Reason for this is there is metric 30 degree flare that looks like a standard JIC but they do not interchange. I found this out while working on my Branson. A little premeasure would have saved me a couple of oh shucks

99% sure this fitting style is referenced on the discount hydraulic hose website

Pretty sure that diverter valve has SAE 8 fittings on the valve. They sell a kit that has adapters for just a little more than the price of the valve and handle.

If you look up the data sheet on the valve (and others) they require a drain connection at a certain pressure and flow. If your tractor hydraulics are less than that, it is fine to just cap it. My tractor's hydraulics are low pressure and flow, so no drain required.

Hey guys! My valve and joystick came in yesterday, and my hoses and fittings should be here today. My grapple unfortunately, is not here yet. Upon planning my install last night I realized that until my grapple comes in, and when I have my bucket on in the future, I won't have anything connected to two of the ports on the valve. What do I do with those? Plug them with a #8 SAE cap, loop a hose between them, or something else? Leave them open and hope my son doesn't push the switch on the joy stick? (I don't like that option...)

On second thought, if you have all the parts up to the connectors on the loader, build the system while waiting for the grapple. The system is supposed to be able to handle being operated when there's nothing connected to the diverter's connectors (deadheaded). It'll just trip the loader valve's relief.

But maybe think about not making the bulkhead on the loader until the grapple arrives, so you can position it just right.

Good to know it can handle being dead headed. I have a nifty mounting plate that will slide around fairly easily by loosening 4 bolts, so I think I'll at least place it all. Thanks for the information!
