Looking for info on where to buy a flag pole and what specs are needed. I want something with 20' of visible height and able to fly a 4'x6' flag but 3'x5' is ok if the price is too high to support a 4'x6'. I've looked a little bit and found a place that sells "commercial" sectional poles but didn't know if there was better places to look. Thanks

A friend of mine just bought a heavy duty 20' telescoping flagpole. He got it with an eagle top, Solar powered battery LED light to shine down on the flags, and 2 flags. I think he paid around $500. If that's not out of your price range I can get the info for you.

I made 1 about 10 years ago. 2 inch on the bottom & 1.5 on top. Big fake rifle on top tha swings with the wind.
use a 3x5 flag, good quality, but the wind tears up about 2 a year

Thanks Murphy, I'll check that site out.

George, if you could find out where he bought it that would be great.

What did you use to make it? I've been thinking about making one also but wasn't sure what material to use.

Just plain water pipe. Gun some thin sheet metal, conduit for barrel & some strap for lever. Just stuff I had laying around.

Wife got her mom one of the Harbor Freight telescoping flagpoles many years ago. To my surprise, it has held up very well!

I've got the Uncommon USA one also, very pleased with it. I was going to put an eagle on top, but they tend to catch the flag, so I went with the round ball instead.

Does anyone have a solar light on top of the flag pole to shine down on the flag at night?

I wonder if the person starting this thread ever got his flag pole put up.

Yes, My friend has the solar light with the eagle on top and 2 flags. Claims the light is very bright at night. Everything rotates around as the wind changes. He has 320 lbs of redimix in the base holding the PVC pipe and the pole sit in the PVC about 2'. I think he said his HD model is rated for 120 MPH wind.

I still haven't pulled the trigger yet, going to do it soon but have been busy. I think I'm going with the uncommon heavy duty 20' silver pole.

If you get a chance to go to Carlisle or Hershey where they have the big car shows there is usually an Uncommon Flagpole dealer on site. My friend bought his at the Syracuse Nationals Annual car show a couple weeks ago. Uncommon has discounted prices at those shows.

Bought mine in NC online, 24' AL shipped in a round tube. Came with pvc sleeve that gets concreted in the ground.
I go thru at least 1 flag a yr, wind shreads them. Wife just bought a new flag.
