It’s been a while since I ran my fail I recently just got a new tractor after selling my other one and 17. I bought a quick attach to make it easier to grab the flail mower I had a weld the bracket on so I’m able to use the hook on the quick attach. All goes well except when I go into the float position my PTO shaft makes contact with the top crossmember of the quick attach.
On my old Kubota with a land pride quick attach it never happened. So I’m wondering if I should just twist out my top link and see if that makes less contact when I am in the float position. Has anybody run into this problem running a PTO shaft with a three point quick attach? In the pictures I had a set the stop gauge on the three-point left arm 2 inches up from the float position in order to have the PTO shaft where it is in the pictures. Only problem is the cutter doesn’t float over different terrain.

how does the top link move if the connection on the flail is welded in place?

Some thing I just thought about after posting. Is raising the rear roller up one hole which will lower the mower. Then adjusting my top link to get my desired 3 inches.

It is not welded in place it is a hook that hooks into an inch and a quarter pin. Spinning the top link out will push the top of the mower up

I gave up using the flail with the quick attach. Since I only use it 4 times a year, I'll live with conventional 3ph connection. My only idea would be to raise the 3 connection points maybe 4 inches. That then limits how much you can raise the unit for travel and obstructions.

I already bent one PTO shaft. I'll not do it again!
