Floating docks

I see it's been a while since this topic was discussed, but I’m curious—has anyone here tried using composite decking material for their floating docks? I’ve been considering it instead of wood for better durability and less maintenance. Would love to hear thoughts or updates from anyone who’s experimented with newer materials since the original posts!

Is this a recreational dock, or a commercial one, with or without swimmers?

Ever walk on composite decking barefoot on a sunny day? Hot, hot, hot. I'm not wild about aluminum decking for the same reason. I've used wood in the past, and I would consider concrete decking if I could have a good way of putting it in and taking it out every year.

We have a large dock with composite decking. We chose a lighter shade to help keep it cool. It works for us.
