Floor for pole barn?

/ Floor for pole barn? #21
I'm thinking more about building a pole barn but can't afford a concrete floor right now. I did want part of it to be kind of an office/lunch room though. Is a wooden floor built over the clay/gravel a viable option? I've read some conflicting info. I'd like to have 400-600 sq. ft. of office space framed in and possibly have storage on top of it.

Use gravel over 6-mil plastic. I've done this several times with good results.

Not to hijack the thread, but why did you opt for 6000psi and 6" thick? What are you running on it?

I have normally just poured 4" of 4000psi with wire and no fiber. Has held up to my needs as general garage floor. Including parking the backhoe on it at 18k pounds.

How many "bag" mix is 6000psi? 8 bags? I know 5-bag is 3000psi and 6 bag is 4000psi. The place I normally go, its $6 per bag. 5-bag is $95, 6-bag is $101, etc

Floor has radiant heat in it, the cost difference was more for the thickness but to add the fiber and 6000psi is not much per yard. The heat cycles can cause damage to the 4K mix from what I read. not to mention added insulation under the slab so the harder mix will also flex less when tractor or car goes into it. That means to me that less flex will be less compaction of the insulation as the slab moves as one part. The inside also was flooded for 2 weeks to hydrate and no cut lines put into it. So far there are only 2 cracks one outside (no tubes there and there ARE cut lines in that slab but it cracked last year after the weeks of sub 0 temps caused very deep freeze.) The other crack at same time is opposite that outside crack on the garage door area where a high stress riser exists & has only cracked about 15" where it stopped. There is wire mesh in slab w the heating tubes and riser/lifts under/too the mesh. That held mesh up in slab even on walking during install.

Here is pic of the crack outside after I coated it last year with a Menards Product called "Water Block"

(yes spilled it at the end, this year the entire outside slab is getting coated in this product.) The internal crack is on other side of the garage door & sort of cuts along the inside to outside moving inwards towards center of garage door.)

installing the waterblock

Other pics at the line even some movies of the Amish crew I had install it. Some pics of the layers of insulation going in and tapping of seams etc can be seen there but you may have seen them from a while back.
