A few pictures for those who loke to look.

It's been 3 weeks. I think the only rain we got was a little from Ike. I had 5 inches in my gauge and I last dumped the gauge 9/7.

In this first batch you can clearly see the area where I over the broadcasted seed with the disk about 4 inches deep. The part on the right was drug with my ATV harrow.

Here is the area with some trees. Mostly whole oats here, 1 bag of wheat mixed in (3 bags of oats). This was just drug with the harrows. Looks nice except for the dead cow just out of the picture!!!! grrr. :D

BTW the cows and horses have been nibbling on some of this. They are avoiding the around the dead cow. Next trip I'm going to drag that somewhere else.

Also no fertilizer on these.

Oh the the before link is here... http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/rural-living/128633-food-plots-finished-up-weekend.html

The peas I planted are doing very well. Should be at $38 a bag. Interesting to see what they do in the end.

Rob,

Very cool.

Are there any deer tracks in the food plots? Do you have a feeder going to increase your odds? Game cam?

The whole oats I planted were about the same cost as yours. I think the wheat was a little more. I'm just going oats 100% next time, I'm not sure if the wheat came up or if it looks the same. My first time for wheat.

If the peas hold up, they could be on next years list!! We can use a little rain now.

It's been a really weird year for cameras. All of the peas are on another guys place, I may hunt it later in the year, now I'm bow hunting the Trinity river bottom. The other stuff is up in the hills by the house. I'm not sure if my friend has any camera on the stuff. He shot a fox in the small pea patch on Sat evening.

But the weird part in the cameras, nothing but hogs. I did shoot a hog with a bow Sat evening. I have 2 cameras in the bottom and one in the hills, nothing but hogs, not 1 deer yet. We think something has run them out of the bottom, but I haven't seen any wild dogs down there. And nothing around the house(the hills). I don't mind a hog at all, but deer are harder to shoot, but easier to kill. Hogs taste better!!

Hadn't figured this season out yet.

Great pics!
My "food plots" unfortunately are the soybeans that I planted this spring. We have one three acre field that has been completely destroyed by the deer and they are putting a hurting to the other fields. Good news is that they prefer the soybeans over the sweet corn that we sell every summer.:)

Rob,

Isn't it time for another update on your food plot!! Mine has come in good, but we had a few weeks without rain and I think that stunted my growth. We got 1 1/2 inches last friday, and it's still wet out, so I'm good on moisture again. Hopefully more growth, but since this is the first time for me to play oats, I realy don't know what to expect out of them.

How are your plants and are you getting any deer activity in them?

Well I forgot to take some pics the last few times out. But the oats are in solid. We never fertilized them. They are no taller than 8" tall. The winter peas have done real well, in one spot they are over a foot tall and some have purple blooms. Of course my BIL's cows broke the fence in the garden and ate them in minutes. I disked them up and put in an electric fence last weekend.

But I can give you this wonderful report...because not much is eating them. There are jus tnot that many deer in the area this year for some reason. I few on the cams at night. But to date...I have not seen one live deer while bow hunting or gun hunting. I have a doe permit so I'm hoping for one of them...nothing! And with all that's going on...Swim meets for my daughter, Christmas parties, birthdays, etc. Last weekend may have been my last chance. Around here about everything goes nocturnal. Other than a little corn at night, I'm not sure what they are eating.

Here is an update Eddie. We were up yesterday and I got some pics. We also got some snow the week before. Some animals kicked the trail cam and saw it. Still no pic with the elkhart house and snow on it!!!

Stuff stull hanging on, nothing touching the winter peas (except cows, they do not know about this plot). I'm a beliver in regional game will eat stuff they know. IE somewhere I'm sure deer will mow down winter peas, here they don't know about them and will not try them. Like some people bait deer with potatos, apples, and carrots. I've tried it, they will not touch either.

Anyway...your pics.
