To fully understand the actual difference between a toy and a tool regardless...you have to understand what "work" is in a physics sense...

Again...you have to understand the true meaning of what "work" actually is...if it does "work" it's a tool...does not mean that tools can't be enjoyable to use...
Toy tools can actually do work (on a scale)...

Soooo, if you weren't in the market for a toy tractor, why did you go look at one, then insult the seller?
The seller listed it as a 'tractor' with little other description.
Actually, I was hoping that he'd take my comment as an education rather than an insult. His choice. Having previously owned a 17 hp Mitsubishi, I know the difference in a mower and a tractor.
I think Big Box Stores are largely to blame for the mislabeling lawn mowers as 'tractors'. Sure, it makes the unit sound a lot more valuable, and probably sell for a few dollars more. But to me, it's like calling a mini-bike a motorcycle. Similar but different.

You pick the tool that fits your needs..if a subcut does the job, then that's what you buy.
In my case, I have a Deere 4520...a rather large compact tractor...but I basically bought a cab (necessary for Vermont winters) that happened to have a tractor (more HP then I need) attached to it. My previous tractor...a Deere 4400 CUT, was perfect. But it was an open station...not so hot when blowing snow

Guys, what one person calls a toy to another can seem like a monster. It is from our own perspective or experiences. My brother in law drove dump truck for years, my F250 to him was a toy. To me much more powerful that the Datsun with about a 70 hp diesel was. When you are use to swinging a 10 pound sleigh hammer a 6 ounce tack hammer feels like a toy or a jewelry hammer which is a precision tool in the trained hands.
As to the use of the word "toy" being slammed here that is amazing...so many here will say something like "got my new toy" and then are upset when it is called a toy? really? time to get out the sand box.
As to the tractor to me it is a novelty. But I grew up with mule or if you prefer the uptown term, horse drawn hay rake, disk, plows, planter and so forth. Yes we used mule drawn mower, hay rake and person powered pitch fork. Those were not toys, they were tools.
