Ford 2000 hydraulic lift

the rear sump with hyds in them were simply better off with a lighter oil.. less cavitation and all, for a pump without a submerged intake.. etc.. unlike the N series that had a submerged intake and pumped gear oil just fine..

Might just simply be a leaky Relief Valve - drain the oil, remove it and if you can blow through it, there's the problem.

i am having basically same problem with ford 3000 with 3cylinder diesel. The fluid is same color as coffee so I think I have water in it,hydraulics won't lift until I run heat gun on lines so I am pretty sure it is freezing was told air brake antifreeze into fill hole should clear it but it is really slow to lift on the 3 point hitch about 60 seconds ,does that sound like a filter issue also and if so is it big job to change filter or filters, someone said the filter is internal and the tractor would need to be split

if the oil is wet.. the filter is wet.

no.. you do not have to split it to do the filters.. but you do have to have the top cover off.

if the situation is not too wet.. try flushing first. drain out the old oil, dump in 3g of diesel, 2 quarts of atf type f or dex/merc III, and then about 4 pints 90% rubbing alcohol.

give it a victory lap around the yard. maybee exercise lift a time or 2.

let her set a bit afterwards, then drain.

( IE.. let this mix stay in the sump an hour.. but don't run it like this an hour... just a lap to mix and sling it around.. then park )

after draining the flush.. go back in with clean utf, if she works good.. you are golden.

after that, dump in a can of transtune seafoam and it will help control water.

so try the flush without changing filters?or should I change the filters no matter what, and the top cover you mentioned is it right under seat so the seat and front auxiliary control panel would have to come off correct? I inherited this tractor when my Dad passed away and have a pretty big learning curve(I so far pretty good understanding of fuel system after fixing leaking line and hydraulic after thawing lines several times)I do have shop manuals for the tractor but they seem to have some conflicting info on location and type of filters for the hydraulics(I am going to look to see if I can find a model number and year for tractor on the tractor might be some help, so far suggestions have been very helpful

the purpose of the flush is to see if the filter is salvageable.. or you have to pull the cover to change.

good luck
