So I replaced the water pump and thermostat on my diesel 3600. Other than a few skint knuckles no biggie. However I cranked it up today and ran it for about 15 minutes and never saw the radiator moving water. Air temp was in the low 40’s. How long should it take for the thermostat to open up and start flowing?

Thanks, I’ll try again.

At idle a diesel engine cools itself with the fuel it injects. The combustion is minimal and creates very little heat.

Try running the engine speed up to mid throttle or more.
