Ford 4000su steering issue

Hey tractor tech forgot to ask you but when time everything the cam will be on the intake valve open side right or what and which valve is the intake valve if so

Don't quite understand your question, but when timing is correct, the #1 (front) valves will both be closed at which time you can set the clearances for the valves on that cylinder.

Yeah I think iv got all of together right I haven't put the fly wheel On yeah I know you said something about the timing and the flywheel what do I need to look for you said 19 degrees or something

Yeah, 19 degrees before top dead center (TDC). Look at the front side of the flywheel while you have it off to see the markings. Since the flywheel only goes on in one position (holes are offset), don't try to time until it is on. Once on, you can turn to correct position. On the right side, below the starter, next to oilpan is an oblong window that you will see the timing marks to time it to 19 degrees.
Earlier post you asked about the injection pump and not having removed it from the gear. That is fine, just line timing dots on gears when crank is in correct position.

Ok I think iv gotcha but when I was looking my flywheel only had a number one and number 4

Not sure what to tell you. You are looking at the side that mounts to the crank?

Yeah I am looking at that side ill send you a pic of it in a few minutes its got a 1 and straight across has a 4

The part with the numbers on it are the ring gear. Just inside that on the beveled part of the flywheel is where the degree numbers are stamped.
