The biggest problem with that for me would be time. There's no way I would have time to head to the dealership for all that maintenance. It is it always seems like I'm doing oil changes and brakes at midnight in the barn LOL.

I love the 10AT in my F150. Very quick shifts compared to other 8+ gear AT's I've driven. The Select-Shift controls are really convenient as well, offering a variety of simple to use overrides.

Don't know if this was a factor for you, but my friends who have the Ford diesels complain a lot about like $400 in parts or something for a full oil and filter change, which gives me the willies.

My main tow vehicle is 2004 Excursion with 5.4 gas, does pretty well, but I am not towing any really big stuff, really 10,000 and under. It has 257M miles and runs great. I also have 2002 F150 regular cab, long bed 4.6 and 2008 Ranger supercab 2.3 both with about 80M miles, both run great and allow me to do different tasks efficiently.

I bought new (past tense) a 2008 F-250 6.4L Powerstroke. The dealer parts counter price for fuel filters (pair, particulate and water) was over $100. The fuel water filter was a ***** to install if 4WD. Plus installation. Oil filters were $20. Engine required 15 quarts. Air filter was also in the $75-$100 range. Shopping online could find OEM fuel filters for $50.

If one walks into the dealer and says, "Sock it to me!" then $400 is getting out cheap.

Others here cite prices for the older 7.3L diesel. Held less oil. Less expensive oil filter.

"My friend said his oil change cost $400!" is lazy and inaccurate for not knowing just what services were performed.

I took a Toyota Prius to a Toyota dealer one day for recall service and the service writer wanted to do $750 of additional "things" to it. None were necessary or even on the Toyota service schedule. But based on the logic some apply here we can conclude "an oil change on a Prius costs twice as much as a Powerstroke diesel!"

The really sad thing is per the factory Toyota service schedule the Prius was due for a valve check which I was willing to pay for, even expecting to be quoted $400. But the service writer didn't have anything close to "valve check/adjust" on his tablet. Claimed, "not a service item." I declined everything else, "just do the recall."

I too have a 2018 F-150 2.7EB with 10AT and love it.

7.3 oil capacity 15 quarts. When it was new I put in amsoil synthetic it was a $200 oil change . Now with 300,000 miles on it I buy a 5 gallon bucket of Rotella when it goes on sale at tsc for $60.00 .:drink:

I too have a 2018 F-150 2.7EB with 10AT and love it.

I drive a 2015 with the 2.7. Very impressed. I wonder when the manufacturers will start putting these types of motors in the 3/4 tons and up over the bigger cubic inch gas motors?
