ford commander 6000
I just purchased a ford commander 6000, The rear tires are locked and will not turn unless you lift the front end and rotate the tractor?? then they rotate freely. I did read about the tractors having lots of transmission issues. Can someone lead me in the right direction in troubleshooting this? Clutch? Shift cable stuck in park? help ??

The shift cable is unlikely but is also the easiest to check out. After that you are into serious problems especially if this had the 10 speed select-o-matic or whatever that nightmare was called. Did the thing behave OK when before you bought it ? Did something happen while operating it ? It would be helpful to describe the condition of the transmission fluid; pull the dipstick, look at the oil, smell it.
Hope that Rick B chimes in on this one.

This site is great with info, I was told the the tractor rear tires will not move unless the engine is running, That's the best news I have got so far :) I am learning as I go and I see there is alot to learn. Thanks for your reply fishheadbob
