Ive never heard the term "flood start". What is it?

Holding gas pedal to floor while cranking, engine won't touch off until you let go of gas pedal.

The good oil filters with a decent oil checkvalve largely stop any oil issues from dry start up.

My area in Texas has seen what you say. The Ford dealer in the small town will probably close it doors forever soon.
They were junk from day 1. 1st we are in a snowy area in the North and picked them up in the winter. Ford tires suck in the snow. We had to change all our tires. It went downhill from there.

I haven't come across any OEM tires on any make or model of new pickup (other than something like TrailBoss that comes on 3PMS Duratracs) that has a tire suitable for snow.

timely post here about the ecoboost. my truck is new to me about 2 months ago, and really like it. i want to be proactive and even though i have carfax data on it, and it was a lease return with full maint records, i want to replace the plugs, decarbon the injectors and do an oil change. this has been on my to do list for 2 months now, but could not find the time to take truck offline for a day to do it.

My appointments have finally died down enough to get this work done at my local ford dealer. i called to make an appt, and they want half a day for the service. i was gabbing with service tech about trying to find someone to follow me to the shop to pick me up and return after service work was done (40 min drive each way x 4) while he put quote together. after agreeing on quote, we scheduled a time for next week. Again, i was grumbling about asking my wife if she could help me on that day, and the scheduler told me they could have their mobil mechanic come to my place and do job at no additional cost to me.

DONE DEAL. added about a week to get on schedule is all.

scheduled for mid december.

I never understood why a new 4x4 came with SRA low rolling resistance street tires other than to get the MPG rating higher. When I had those and stayed right at the speed limit I could often get the MPG to read 22. 20 was pretty easy if I kept my foot our of it. I run Duratracs now and get around 17. I switched on the first tire replacement.

i do miss my old 1975 F350. i could climb into engine area with hood up to work on it. sooooo much room. i wont touch any of my newer rigs.i have a good and trusted mechanic for that. heck, there so crammed with junk, i cant even trace a spark plug wire.
I would wager it’s easier to do the plugs on my 3.5 Ecoobost than a 1970’s Ford, they are right on the top of the engine. Btw, the 70’s dentsides are my all time favorite truck.

I was going to do the work myself, but its a work truck, so its a write off. Ill let someone else do it.

Please post a photo of your "Ford" tires. I'm old and I've yet to see one. Most of the new pickups (regardless of brand) seem to have Goodyear or Dunlop or Bridgestone on them.
