If you mean wear out prematurely, I agree. A water pump should not fail at 30,00 miles. At 120,000 miles, it is not unexpected.
I'm not sure what it means, seeing that I plagerized and re-aligned your statement. :D

I am making the same point from a different perspective.

depending on the model year of your dodge, it may have been made in mexico, not the US.

Up until about 4 weeks ago, dodge was bought out by daimler (a German company). So thruthfully, any car/truck bought after DC purchased dodge ('99-'00, I believe) is really not a "big 3" vehicle.

So you are an apologist for detroit...thanks for clearing it up.

I'm not an apologist for anyone....including ignorant people, thank you.

BTW: I just traded my Kubota in for an American made CASE, which will promptly eat any lightweight Kubota for lunch.

Your American made CASE, really? Interesting. CASE is owned by FIAT. So Toyotas made in the US are American made and thus pretty much fall in the same category as CASE products made in the US. Interesting how things turn.

My Case is made in USA out of American components by American people. I'm proud of that. I can't help it if FIAT/ bank of Italy owns them. I can only do my small part to help keep some American businesses here employing American people building American things.

Some of you can disparage me because I like to buy things made here in the states when possible, but I see it as a good thing. The anti-American sentiment in this country is building rapidly. We seem to be eating ourselves from the inside-out. It's not a sin to be proud of something built by your own people.

I really hope you enjoy your Toyota & your Kubota. :) I owned Kubota equipment and although very lightweight, it's high quality.

My 96 Seville has 198K on the odometer. I've replaced some stuff on it but nothing major. The most expensive repair was the fan motor and heater core. $650 total. Try and get a Toyota fixed for that.

I'll be buying within the next year and it's gonna be a 4 door familly sedan. Don't think a Honda is big enough but will end up probably with another Caddy or perhaps Ford.

Just buy what you like and go from there. I do agree though that the automotive press heaps praise on ANY FOREIGN CAR MAKER over USA made vehicles. I wonder if they do the same thing over in Europe.

I was neither disparaging you nor am I disparaging those whose choices for products differ from yours. I just thought it interesting that FIAT decided to purchase CASE and for that matter, New Holland. Much like Chrysler was purchased by Daimler.

...and now Daimler is selling Chrysler off. The cycles never end. I'm sure someone else will buy Case/NH in the future.

One point I disagree with you on is that Toyota or Kubota is nothing like CASE. Toyota is and always has been a JAPANESE company doing business in America.

CASE, on the other hand, is and always has been, an American company doing business in America, employing mostly Americans and using mostly American materials & subcontractors. Although FIAT is now the parent company, CASE is still relatively in-tact and proudly making products here in America the way is has been for over 50 years.

Can't say Toyota or Kubota resembles CASE in any way whatsoever.

It sounds like someone trying to reason-away or convince themself that Toyota or Kubota is an "American" company, when nothing could be further from the truth.

After all the hype about how great and trouble free Toyota vehicles are, I broke down and bought a brand new Toyota on 1995. With the size of my family, the Camry was too small so I thought the new Avalon would be great. Everyone told me that it was just a longer Camry with more room. As it turns out, it was by far the absolute worst vehicle I've ever owned. And that's saying a lot. I've owned dozens and dozens of vehicles. Our Avalon spent far more time at the dealer's shop than it did in my garage in the first 9 months. The Toyota dealer quit providing me a free loaner after a month because they said it was just costing them too much. I bought another car to drive while the "reliable" Toyota was in the shop.

After about one year of terrible service from the Toyota, I had to contact our state's Atty General to begin procedures under the Lemon Law. Toyota was beyond terrible to deal with. It seems that when they have a turd they want to blame everyone else and not accept any responsibility. This part of the problem really turned me against Toyota. After uncounted wasted hours the state forced Toyota to buy back my junk Avalon. It still disgusts me to think of all the time I wasted taking that hunk of crap back and forth the the service department, all the times it left my wife stranded on the road, and all the crap I had to put up with Toyota who acted as if they couldn't believe that one of their cars was junk.

I not drive either American based vehicles or Honda vehicles or Acura vehicles. I've had great service out of all of them. And, my Honda and Acura vehicles have more American content than most of the "domestic" brands do. For me, Toyota has been off my list for quite a while. The car was terrible, but their attitude was even worse.

OK... I have 2 chime in my .02 here.... since you and I agree on most things, especially cummins... I have a story of a much beloved '95 Avalon that met it's demise at the hands of a really stupid buck with 218,000 miles on the ticker and not a thing wrong with it... it was owned by us for probably 50 or 60,000 thousand of those.. the previous 125,000 or so were my in-laws. As far as I know.... besides a valve cover gasket right before it was given to us...the only things done were consumables. It was a VERY reliable car and my wife is STILL moaning that it's dead.... I still have the pics on my phone for anyone who wants to see the destruction..:(
