if you are worried the petcock is seized and don't want to mess with it.. pop the cap and then pull the lower hose off and have a trough ready... then flush with a garden hose a bit. inspect hoses.. and repalcee if needed. also the thermostat in top hose. back flush the block while at it.

fill back up with proper mix of green coolant and water to match your climate. do not fill the tank to full.. just fill it to cover the coils. fill to coils.. start up to fill engie.. then top of.. then go...

it has a small leak is it alright to put stop leak in the raditor on these tractors?

is it allright? um.. I guess if rain was approaching and I needed to get my crop in or my familly starved and I was gonna loose the farm.. I guess... otherwise it just sediments up the cooling system and reduces it's effectiveness.. and lets go when you least expect it leaving you worse off than before.

where's the leak?

hose = replace

water pump = rebuild or repalce.. personally I'd replace

radiator = repair or repalce ( recore / solder if possible )

block / head = post back

the leak only happens when the tractor is up and really warmed up it leaks i cant really tell somewere on the radiator its on the right side corner of the front so i no its coming from the radiator somewere its a drip drip drip then when the tractor cools it stops i dont really no if it drips when the tractor is runing tho or only when it shuts off guess i should find out

very likely that stop leak would have -0- beneficial effect on a leak like that.

best to find it and fix it. use a pressure test if needed.

might be a leaking seam..

remember.. small elaks become big leaks.. and usually do so when you are mowign in high grass and can't see the leak.. and only find out when the engine binds to a halt.. just saying... be carefull.. i'd hate to see a 2.5 hour / 15$ repair wipe out a 2500$ tractor...

i'm sorry but there was sooooo much bad advice in that post that I have to chime in.

soldering is the time tested way to build and repair a radiator.

braze? why?

rtv? are you serious??!? it's a pressure system. rtv is not going to seal a leak liek that under pressure. ( 4psi if correct cap.. )

temps way low? only if you run a cold thermostat or none at all.

160-190 are easilly available.

jb weld might work as a temp patch depending upon the leak area.. however in practice I've found jb is a poor patch on a material that is contiously heated and cooled due to expansion and contraction making the jb let go... though it should hold for a bit if it was cleaned and prepped. but heck.. if cleaning and prepping... just SOLDER IT.

the 'no use' of a leak addative was the redeedming peice of that message...
