Dont know how many cycles a charge will last. Is your trailer power up and down both? Or just power up? And alot depends on battery size, and how heavy the load is.

But wasn't just about battery preservation. For $80 worth of hoses and couplers, the cycle time is at least twice as fast, and not adding any wear to the expensive pump unit, never have to worry about battery charge, and dont have to listen to the pump whining.

Good points. Yes it's power up and down. The loads I was talking about were wet sand at near the trailer's lift capacity. Five year old marine deep cycle (typical car-size demensions). I was just impressed by the performance.

Your post makes me wonder what pressure the on-board pump generates. My tractor relief is set at 2950psi. It would be great to get more capacity.

Watch this thread with interest as My Brother and Me bought a new 12LX Big tex dump trailer a couple of years ago. 8,400 there abouts for payload .
We paid cash , thus got a discount and it ended up being a little less than $7000 after we added a spare . No tarp system , no really needed for most that We haul , slide in ramps were included .

On a couple of loads of screened granite from the local quarry to my moms house about 5 miles away , Empty weight going in was 10,860 first load and 10,840 on second , loaded weight going out was 21,220 and 21,160 ( OOPS !! ) . It was really hard to judge load , looking at tires , etc.. , since your in a quarry and nothing is level , 1 tire in hole , trailer leaning to 1 side . On second load , I positioned trailer a little farther back , but opposite side tires were now on low side and although I had loader cut back some on volume , stuff was wetter since he got it at bottom of pile .

Trailer handled it going down the road fine , also unloaded it with no issue's , thus my thread about adding some sort of on board scale system . Not a fan of overloading our trailer , thus the last 2 loads I hauled were only about 7,000 each and of course the stuff was a heck of a lot drier this time also . Volume is a difficult thing since most can vary with moisture content :D

Glad though that You got what you were looking for and things ended well . Only loss is Your time in dealing with that other brand .

Yep, I am happy with the sure trac so far.

Of the 12 loads I hauled, before making the drive to the back of the property, I hit the lever to make sure it was going to dump before making the drive. One of the loads I had to use the backhoe and shove a little more to the back of the trailer. So all 12 loads I would guess would be near max capacity. Which i think is 8700-8800#. 12k trailer that weighs ~3200 and change. 8-10 scoops from the backhoe bucket at ~1000# each so the math seems to work out about right too.

This is why I had issues with the other trailer. I want something that is gonna dump what I put on (within reason). Because hauling firewood, dirt, rocks, etc aroun my property...I dont have scales. No idea what things weigh.

On a side note, when digging the goldfish pond (gonna have to post pics of that but will start another thread)...Once nearing the end of digging I started piling dirt for the mound where my waterfall was going to be. But knowing I would still need more dirt to dress up, the 13th trailer load didnt get hauled and dumped. Rather parked and wheels chocked. Well, I am glad I went to the 7' trailer instead of 6'. Because my 6' loader bucket on the MX fits between the insides of the trailer and I can scoop dirt a little at a time directly out the back as needed:thumbsup:

Did you or will you raise the dump up a bit before unloading some material from the back? O will you just pull some back with the hoe to get it to dump when finished pulling material off? Just wondering. Jon

Didnt at first. Because there were 2-3 scoops I could get just by opening the barn doors. then I had to raise the dump a bit to get the rest to slide to the back
