help to all .1st post and it will be a bit long, but I need some schooling and am so happy I found this site ,read all 46 pages and have learned a bunch but now have a few questions .but I will back up from the start ,get yourself a coffee . Canadian welder / fitter that retired at 53 and drove a 31 ft motorhome pulling a 30 ft enclosed trailer to Panama lived in mh for 3 yrs while I built and in that time I bought a Firman 200 amp DC welder /generator from a box stop .had about 200/300 hours when the gen end died ,pulled the gen off and kept the diesel . which now kind of brings us up to date 13 years later .have a 40 ft seacan as a little shop completely equipped welder wise plus a 9x20 benchtop lathe ,benchtop mill and a small drill press . always into motorcycles and antiques up home and got this idea I want to build as close to real as I can a 1908 Sears motor buggy ( think doctors buggy ) with a motor under the seat .it came with a 10 hp 2 cyl opposed , that where mine will not be model correct ,yes I want to put the diesel in it if I can ,if not the gen out of the motorhome that is sitting still in my yard has a 2 cyl oppoed gas motor ..back to the diesel I did oil changes in the hours that I used it and read the very good manual that came with it but until I started reading this blog somehow I missed the screen oil filter ,( slam palm into forehead ) after reading about others finding metal in the filter I went to the shop and pulled the motor out of storage and rolled it on its side like someone mentioned and found where the filter is ,thinking the worse I pulled it and found nothing in the filter when I washed it over a paper towel .nada nothing ,put a paper towel on finger and wiped inside were filter fits ,had to go out into the sun to get it to shine on the 4 super super small flecks on that towel . drained oil and found nothing . sometimes the Lord takes care of idiots and fools and I was taken care of I think . now the questions ,being a genset it had that one leaver throttle to hold it at 3600 rpm .good for that job but not mine ,can they be run at slow speeds? .I need it to act like a car gas pedal does .I have not started it yet as the starter was weak when I was using it so pulled it off and took it to a friend that rebuilds such things .any and all adviseis welcome now that you have a idea on what I want to do with it .the only name sort of that I can find on mine says CE in a couple of spots and it was a 2006 model so maybe they were a good builder .thanks and sorry this is so long and glad to be here .doug
