Should update if you do a hard refresh (shift + refresh) or update the bookmark. The icon wasn't working for me yesterday but is today.
Working now, the old Favicon must have expired.

When opening a thread, i would prefer the old method of being positioned at the point where I last viewed rather than having to click the "View First Unread" button. I have dial-up internet. Now when I open a thread, I have to wait for the contents of the page to load, and then I need to click the "View First Unread" button and wait again. A per-user setting for this feature would be fine with me.
The list of posts should have this icon:
firstnew.png
next to the title of each unread post. If you click on that icon, it will jump right to the first unread post.

The "My Home" button seems to work intermittently.
When I first log on to TBN, it works. After reading one thread and then clicking on "My Home" again, the button does not work. In order to see the next subscribed thread, I have to leave TBN and return.
I'm using IE8 with XP Home Edition (latest service pack)

The previous forum software automatically went to the newest posts in any subscribed thread. This one takes you to the first page (of the subscribed thread) and I have to click the "Jump to latest post" (not the exact terminology) to see the newest posts.

Maybe it is just me but the tractor tire watermark on the main forum page has a weird effect. Almost like a Moire effect when I scan across the screen, it is slightly annoying. Is anyone else noticing this or is it just the results of the concussion that I'm recovering from.

The other thing....the default to go to the first unread post was always one of the things I like best about this forum. No need to click a special button.

BTW, the previous version was probably the best layout and functionality of any forum that I visit, hopefully this new design will be fine tuned to perform similarly.

Thanks,
Kevin

Changed back to Verdana for post content. Better?

That looks a whole lot better for size and readability -- thanks! We'll see if other folks concur.

I didn't realize that. Thank you.

Changing TBN to use that button makes this site work the same as other forums that run on the latest version of VBulletin. The previous way (click on the thread title) was ok but this new way is ok too. My vote is to leave the button, and stay consistent with VBulletin conventions.

Just a comment - I think TBN has been running on a version of VB that had many patches by this site's owners as the site grew. Now VBulletin has matured and the current edition is capable of running a large site, so M moved over to the new VB to leave more of the behind-the-scenes software maintenance burden on them. I think this is good news.

I agree, this fixes the posts jumping around when you look at pictures and is just like most other sites, so I vote to leave it. I will get used to it in a few weeks.

I agree, always good to be current on your software, less stuff for script kiddies to play with that way.

Yeah, we were running a version from four years ago that we had modified and modified and were afraid that the walls would start coming down eventually, whether in the form of script errors (white space) or security holes, or just obsolete technology.

We've never been a fan of out of the box software as it typically has a lot of features that we don't want or need, and designs that I don't find intuitive. But short of developing our own software and maintaining it, we're trying to balance both and keep the software updated. Hopefully if we make more frequent updates the changes won't seem so major.

This one, we'll keep tweaking though. Fonts, colors, etc, make a big difference.

Overall, pretty decent. Nice work.

I'm running Safari on Mac OS X.

1. The graphic at the top of the subforums is badly formed, as in the attached screen grab. Firefox on Mac OS X shows it O.K.

2. The "reply" button at the bottom of the list of posts does not activate a reply procedure.

I know you guys are busy and this thread has "exploded" with suggestions. But just in-case you overlooked, here are some things I would like addressed or answered to:thumbsup:

When viewing a list of posts, like clicking on "todays posts", the Time where it says "last post at..." still is getting snipped off.

Unless I zoom WAY out until the text is really small

View attachment 269225

Also, the reply button at the bottom is still not working forme either. Chrome browser BTW

One more thing I noticed was under a post, it has "started by -member name" and then "date when created.."

Makes it look cluttered when browsing the list of posts. I believe the old forum only had the member name. No "started by" and no "date".

If we could do away with that extra clutter that would be great. Have just the members name there and thats it.

One more suggestion before I head out to a job today......

Earler I mentioned that the "my profile" and "log out" icons at the top get cut off when zooming in to a halfway readable level......well I got a suggestion to help that.

Do away with the "my topics"

Because it is the same as if you just go to "my home" and then click view ALL subscriptions. Dont really need the "my topics" Icon.

And I would still like to have a color difference between read and un-read posts/threads. Instead of just the Bold and un-bold. Similar to the last version where it was yellow for unread and grey for read:thumbsup:
