Read???

I was walking through the living room a few weeks back sometime bet 6 and 8 PM and heard someone say "s*ck" on the Disney Channel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I got a garbage mouth as good as any guy, but this just isn't right.

.

It amazes me how bad the language has become on TV, even with regular programming. Last night the show NCIS had at least one "h***" during the broadcast. No wonder kids use such profane words today.

My local newspaper just removed a post I made online that used the term "horse squeeze" because somebody took offense with it. If the censors don't remove it here, it must not be profane....right?
Oh for f**** sake, that s*** isn't d*** profanity!

Some people are just too d*** sensitive

I'm interested as to what word that was ?

Suck ?
Sick ?
Sock ?

Obviously not all at the same time, besides, it is impossible for socks to be sick. If you sucked a sock though you may be sick...

Anyway, enough of that, I'm off to be sick while wearing my socks and sucking at witty posts.

My 2yr old picks up curse words from the T.V and knows actually when to use them in a sentence,so with/trying to keep straight face just tell him that we shouldnt be saying them words. But its just one of them things that me as a father is going to have to teach him to atleast do it when his mothers not listening.

Makes you wonder where we learned all those bad words before Television and Movies came along. We have to blame it on something. It couldn't be your Dad or Uncle Charlie. My Mother would try swearing once in awhile, she did it so poorly and out of context we asked her to stop.

Personally I learned how to swear in the U.S.M.C. I didn't have much to swear at before I joined.

Put a sock in your trumpet and quit blowing your horn so loud. If you didn't piggyback off my threads and posts, you wouldn't even be up to 300 yet.

Hey YOU put a sock in it! I make your TBN life worthwhile, face it.

I've got those ear plugs in now by the way

Seems more and more, some type of censorship is used to fight an argument, rather than debate it. This is even getting common in how the media deals with politics. It also seems we as "posters" on forums, may at times post "words" or meanings that we wouldn't have said in mixed company 20 years ago, myself included.

I personally took a letter to the local newspaper rebutting one of their articles about 30 years ago, and they refused to publish it. No profanity-they just didn't like what I had to say. It's their newspaper so they can publish what they choose, and I quit buying their paper years ago. Unfortunately, other people still read their nonsense.

Walt Disney would be horrified if he were to see what Disney puts out today.

My take on folks offended by expletives is they have a very limited vocabulary to start with, believe their narrow view of the world is always right and think the King James Bible is an actual account of God's intent. Add a 6th grade or equivalent college education to the mix and you end up with morons who don't have a basis but unfortunately a majority backed opinion of right and wrong. This explains the unexplainable success of reality T.V.

Unless we continue to hold these Dudley Do-Rights to task we are doomed to a life of mediocrity.

If you want to hear some world class dialog you need to watch the series "Deadwood," another victim of shallow thinkers but one of the best televised stories in the last 20-years.

I stopped posting on my local paper's site, after they required Facebook. I simply don't want to share everything with everybody.

Mine did, too. And I also quit posting.

I'm with you on the "Deadwood" series. Great program hitting on various happenings at Deadwood. Based in fact and loosely on some real events according to the histories I have read.

Given the outright curse words I have read elsewhere (not here), I'm sort of both shocked and encouraged that there's a paper out there that still censors something compared to letting it all hang out like some other sites. I'm not saying your post in particular should have been censored-just the fact that someone is actually taking a look at postings might be a good thing.

If you want to see some serious posting restrictions, take a look at the useage and posting restrictions on Home Theater Shack, for example. Their moderators are pretty serious about langugage and about people being courteous to each other from what I have seen.

In one site I infest they won't even allow "Dick" as short for Richard. Guess it scans for the word, not the meaning.
