I wasn't going to say this, but since we're keeping going....how about those there McChaulkey magnets?

Skid it on the bucket a ways and see how it goes. You may gain the confidence to keep going. Take it out of 4wd so the "loose" axle doesn't do any more damage.

Oh, and by the way.

It'll probably go just fine on three wheels. Especially if it's counterweighted.

Well, I went out and skidded backwards. It don't want to turn. Using the rear brakes doesn't change direction. It is a little muddy out there making traction difficult and the toothbar is on the bucket which I know makes any direction other then straight very difficult.

Now the tractor is sitting in a "grassy" area. Next I'll try taking the toothbar off. If that doesn't work then it'll be time for the ole' boom pole on another tractor or maybe just a good chain to help pull me in the right direction and get me close to the trailer and pointed in the right direction. Trying to not "invest" in any new tools right now but rather use what is available to me.

BTW - Was able to "walk" it using the FEL but couldn't turn.

Like that idea of drilling/tapping for a temporary patch. Don't have any taps but will call around and see if any of my friends have any. My Dad had a set but they were lost in a move years ago, never replaced them.

Can't you back the trailer right up to where the tractor is, or is the ground too soft or too uneven? If you could do that, then would just have to "crawl" onto the trailer and not worry about getting it to it.

From the looks of that break that spindle just might be cast iron.

Me thinks the spindle is a casting. Am able to move the equipment backward or forward with the loader (done that too many times getting myself unstuck) just am not able to turn.

Keep in mind that the 3pt. capacity of the mf 275 is going to diminish drastically as the length of the boom increases.

Well maybe not a boom pole but something shorter, thus reducing the fulcrum.

Do you have a small utility trailer that you could lay your loader on and use it as a front axle?

Now that you mention it, yes! I'll get one of my parent's hay wagons. Remove the back rack, lay my FEL on it, have them attach the wagon to their tractor and pull me to the driveway. Remove the hay wagon, back the trailer up and then use the FEL to "walk" or slide up the ramp.

I'll try this tonight. Let y'all know how it goes.

The ground is way too soft and uneven. The carriage clearance would be a problem.

Wheels falling off? Dealers out of business? "hidden" transport charges?. Boomers just aren't worth the risk. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

(Sorry, Dave. Just a little light hearted fun.)

This message is for Spencer200:

I'm sure you have been following this thread. Is there much of a chance that some of these home remedies, even though temporary, might further complicate the warranty issue? I realize that Dave is just trying to transport his tractor. And that the dealer will actually be doing the repairs. Just trying to help Dave avoid any more problems.
