Because a plow is intended for removing snow more efficiently than a loader bucket that is designed for moving dirt more efficiently. It is called the right tool for the job. It is like using a screwdriver for a chisel. It might work, but not as well as using a chisel for a chisel and a screwdriver for a screwdriver. Cave men used rocks in place of hammers, since hammers weren't invented yet. After the invention of the hammer, most intelligent people used hammers instead of rocks. The same theory applies today.. Only cave men use rocks in place of hammers. I wonder if ..... oh..... forget it.......
I know that.
I have 2 front blades or pows as they are also called .One on my 66 bolens and another one on my new CC GT2554.
I know why I have them and what I use them for but I didn't know what RayBo used his for so thats why I asked him the question.

Using your logic..... Why does he need a BX with a loader bucket and a plow (pow in Ohio) when he has a wheel barrow and a snow shovel??  The question to you is "do you own a hammer?":D

I just completed a similar conversion for a 54" JD blade that was on a model 4100 tractor. Basically the same blade with a slightly different adapter. Just incase someone else is looking into this you will need new quick connect couplers. I ordered them directly from Snap-tite on the web, same part number that are on the loader. They also have the dust covers as well. Thanks RayBo for paving the way.

1*Decided to sell my beloved Deere X585 and move up to a BX24. Had the BX for 3 weeks now and it is awesome.
2*Rather than spend close to $2000 for the Kubota power angle plow set up.
I adapted my Deere plow set up to the BX24.
3*Should I paint the plow orange?

1*I didn't sell my BX23 when I bought my 2 BX1500s.
I'm keepin all 3 of the BXs.
2*I got the regular BX23 Hydraulic lift and angle front blade for $1500 installed on one of the BX1500s.
Got a good deal on it cause I bought a pretty big package of tractors and attachments at one time.
Had I just been buying the blade only it would have been $1900.
3*Pain't it black<>Easier and cheaper to keep it touched up with a can of 99 cent black paint from WallMart.
I like black cause it's the easiest color to match up.

RayBo,

Welcome to Kubota land! I too had a Deere X585 and traded it in for a used B7610. For what the Deere dealer wanted for just a FEL  I ended up with a larger tractor, FEL and a 3 point hitch. :D I have been very happy with the Kubota although I agree with you that purely for mowing the X585 did an awesome job. Your front blade mods look great. Keep us posted and congrats on the new toy.

Since you posted This I have acquired a 60"" Hyd lift and angle front blade with a Kubota BX1500 attached to it.
That just may have lifted me out of the dark ages.
