I blew a o ring in my front axle pivot when greasing it. It’s a ck3510, 2021 model. How much is involved in fixing this?

Basically you'll need to pull the 4WD drive shaft and trunnion mounts out to change the O-ring.

It's not that bad that you run it as is.

These Korean and Japanese tractors are made for rice paddies. Hence why they tend to have higher ground clearances. With that being said, they design and built the tractors keeping in mind that they will work with the axles pretty much buried under water and mud.

In order to keep that water and mud out of the pivot shaft for the front axle, they add those o-rings. However, as you found out, it can be quite easy to push them out when greasing. Some brands actually have a relief valve in there to avoid it.

Long story short, keep it greased and it won't have any issues.

I’m wondering if it did relieve. I pumped the grease gun twice and a line of grease shot out under pressure. It was a thin line, not like when grease comes out of a bushing.

Probably pushed the o-ring slightly and it shoot like a thin line in that area.

Ok thanks for the reply. After a closer look out side on my trailer, it looks as if the pivot unit may just unbolt with 4 bolts from the top and come right off. If that’s the case I may fix it anyways. I’ll post a picture so it is easier to see.

Oh it's the front one, yeah that is definitely easier than the other one and shouldn't take too long. You should be able to reuse the same o-ring. It usually doesn't damage it when it pops out.

I want to see those pix when you get it apart. O-rings in the axle pivot...who knew? The JDs and Kubotas I had apart did not.

My CK30 may not be the same, but years ago, I could not get one zerk to take grease, even with tractor lifted. Thought I was gonna have to take it apart. I tried again more recently, and it did take grease. I wonder if they use a drilled plain bearing insert in there, and it rotated.

dfkrug's post kinda reminded me to take some screenshots from the service manual. Maybe it will help the OP as well.

It actually has 3 o-rings just in the front trunnion.

Good point on the rice paddy protection, PTSG. All tractors should try to seal water out of there, as DaeDong does.

I thought they all did, at least the Korean and Japanese brands. I know Branson/TYM does, Daedong as well, I'm pretty sure I've seen them on LS too using parts catalog too.

Just checked Messicks and picked a random Kubota model (L3901 for instance) and looks like they have them too.

Just checked front axle pivots for a few tractors I have owned: Kubota L2550DT, no O-rings, but 4 "oil seals". Nice. Kubota B21, O-rings. Kubota B20, no O-rings or seals. JD 955, no O-rings or seals.
