front snowplows

Beenthere,

We ended up getting a Sno-Wolf front plow. It uses the FEL quick attach brackets for the bucket and we used the third spool on the SCV for the angle cylinders. This particular setup uses compression springs instead of extension springs and has the ability to put down pressure on the blade while still floating the lift cylinders.
This brand of plow seems to be the unit of choice for the commercial plowers that use tractors. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet as we have only had about 3" of snow total and none in the forecast.
If we do get enough snow to to give it a try will let you know how it works out.

A web search for Sno-Wolf came up empty. Do you know if they have a web site? Could you post a picture of the compression trip springs? I would like to see how they are set up. Thanks.

I don't think they have a web site, but I did find an 800 number for them. They are located in Minneapolis, Minn. and their phone number is 800-905-2265. I don't have any way to post any pictures but will try to explain the trip springs.

Rather than being angled up from the 'A' frame there are two springs mounted horizontally with a rod running through them and a plate on the back side. When the blade trips it pivots at the bottom as usual but it pulls on the rods which run through the springs, compressing them. There is another spring that runs on angle from the top of the mounting bracket down to the 'A' frame which can be used to put down pressure on the blade if need be. You just have to hit the bucket dump and it pushes down.

The blade is 30" high and 6' wide with an angled width of 61''.
Total weight is about 560 pounds. A urethane cutting edge is available if needed.

Still no snow to try it out .

Try <font color=red>"Snow Wolf" Blade</font color=red> in a search engine and you will come up with some hits.

Can you give us an idea of the price you paid?
Thanks

Cost of the blade and mounting kit was $1725.00 and I have about another $125 in the hydraulic fittings and hoses. I fabricated a cable linkage from the third spool on the SCV to the left side of the seat so that I wouldn't have to have the factory control lever on the right fender. With the tire chains on there was very little clearance between the tire and the fender.

I used a six and a half foot Meyers poly plow in a FEL mount on my TC33D. Had the mount system made by my welder, two pins and back away that equaled about fifteen seconds to unhook and about a minute to hook up. The unit was manual angle. I used this unit to plow 3.5 miles of roadway in my development without any problem to the FEL arms or mounting system. She would roll snow in High range ( low MPH ) with no problem. Cut down on my time by more then half compaired to using seven foot rear blade and bucket. We live in the sticks so we have no curbs to worry about but I would be aware if I had any on our roadways. Good luck. Bigguy ( AKA Scaper)

Had a pm request for locating this thread showing the pics of the front mount Western plow. To help, I'll post and bring it forward.
