Front wheel intermittently locks up. YM2210D

My YM2210D 4WD tractor started acting up. While moving forward the LF wheel suddently will lock up. It does this both while front wheel drive is engaged and disengaged. It does not seem to be related to the position of the wheel in that it does it while both driving straight ahead and while turning. After I stop the tractor's motion it unlocks on its own. I am going to tear into it tomorrow but would like comments from anyone who has experienced this behavior.

Not familiar with that one specificly, but typicaly when that occors, its related to a wheel bearring. Should be an easy fix, if thats it.

I had a Hinomoto 4WD that would do that. It had a broken tooth on one of the gears in the front axle. It would occasionally catch that tooth in the gears and lock up. It would do it in 2 or 4 wheel drive.

I'm in the middle of repairing my 2210D that did almost the same thing. Mine just completely locked up the right wheel. i tore apart the front end and the top bearing on the vertical shaft rusted apart and the balls and outer race were ground up in the top bevel gears. one of the balls had locked the gears up. I suspect you have the same thing going on. Those top bearings are ABOVE the oil bath. i believe the top seal on that vertical shaft was bad on mine and allowed water into my gear oil - making it look like chocolate milk. But since those seals are above the oil level - can't tell when they are bad. Check out my other post on the speedi-sleeve for the challenges I'm running into there.
I was able to find used bevel gears (only needed top 2) and replaced the damaged bearings.
it's a pretty easy tear dowm - need large snap-ring pliers....
