Frontier 72" snowplow on a 200cx (2320)

I had one of these plows and though it moved the front end of my 3720 around. This plow is much too heavy for any of the 2000 series machines. It is made of lead and would stress the frame, loader arms and drivetrain to use it. You might be able to get away with it but it is just not worth the potential damage to the machine. I have found these wide blades just do not do that great a job in snow. One does not need a heavy blade for snow. My Gator, with a 72" snow blade that weighes only 90## is superior to any tractor mounted blade I have tried. I found my old 595 with a 54" front blade to be 90% as fast as my 3720 with a 72" blade secondary to its manuverability.

I agree!! I know own John's old deere 72" plow on my 3320!

Went the boom mount, used once. I'll stay with the frame mount thank you very much.

Yep, same here - gone back to the frame mount.

Interesting opinions and experiences.

I am using an 84" FEL mounted plow on a 1/4 mile long drive with half of it being a steep incline. While I would agree that a frome mounted blade would give better control, I couldn't justify the cost. I was able to build my blade for about $300. I also like that I can pile the snoe using the blade on the FEL. do not use the foat postion as that cuases loss of steering control like others have said.

A 72" blade may be to large however the smaller the blade the more windrows you will need to clean up. If the majority of your snowfalls are smaller amounts with the occasional 10+" then I would plan to have the best set up for the majority of snows. (JMO)

With the hill I have to plow and the drive being gravel, I have chains on all four wheels and 900 lbs of rear ballest. My 4310 is almost unstopable with that setup.

It's interesting how peoples experience vary so much. I have plowed for most of a winter with the frontier blade on the FEL of my 790 and never had my front end move around, never had to use differential braking. I can't use float because it will eventially lift my front wheels off the ground so maybe it is because I have much of the blades weight on my front wheels.

I wish my current blade had 72" of width instead of 66", I am looking to figure out a way to expand the width.

I put these on my blade. Added about 20". Don't know how it will work until we get some snow.

thanks Mech, I used to have your same set-up and "retreated" back to. I may have to try these out as the Deere version is rated for light material only and costs more than these. They look better but if these are more heavy duty than the Deere version, I may be quite interested

I have never seen the John Deere wings, in fact my dealer said they didn't have any for the frontier blade. These are very heavy. They hook to the blade with three quick pins (same size as on my 3 point). Two to the outside on hinges that attach to the outside of the blade and one that goes through the blade (you have to drill a hole). This allows you to rotate them back and to easily remove them. I'm happy but with all the talk in this thread about the front wheels slipping I'm hoping it won't be too much for my tractor.

I have a used 5' Western hydroturn plow mounted to the frame. I mounted it close so at full angle it is only 2 inches from the front tire. Less pushing the front sideways in heavy snow. Also when angled it covers the tire tracks so I thought it was the perfect size. I also have a 6' rear blade for clean up mounted on the three point.

First, 72" is to big for your 2320-period.
I made a 60" blade like your talking about, and had terrible results. I was all I could do to steer the tractor-even with split brakes. Fact is the blade sits to far from the front wheels and there is just to much leverage-especially when the blade starts getting snow in front of it.
Second, when the blade gets full...and the rear wheels keep pushing...the loader will go down and the front will come up taking the front wheels off the ground...it kind of "folds" up if you get my drift...you can try the same thing with your bucket if you have a dirt pile-just try to drive straight in and see what happens.

Our tractors are just to light for these setup...I have and a few others have written about this a lot before if you do some searching.

I found a #380 frame mounted blade and made it fit...It is now FUN to plow snow:D
I am using a frontier 72 inch fel mount blade on a 2320. I keep my 46 backhoe on for the weight balance. to over come the front lifting and pushing sideways, I simply changed the hydraulic lines around so just the blade floats while the fel arms are held stationary. to do this, swap lines 1 and 4. also swap lines 2 and three. This change will raise and lower the whole thing with a side to side motion of the joystick, and the blade will raise with a back pull, lower with a front motion and float just the blade when pushed all the way foreward until it clicks. Just used it on a 12 inch + snow fall, worked great. wiremess
