FROZEN GRASS HEIGHT KNOB

OK, i GUESS THAT i'M A DUMB ***!! AFTER ALL THAT, WD-40 OVER NIGHT FREED UP THE **** KNOB Now I just have to see that the unit adjusts properly up and down. This site has given me more insight to the inner workings of my last three tractors, than the manuals that came with them. Thanks again so much. Maybe some day I'll be able to give someone a hand in return.

OK now I need some adult supervision. The manuals are so totally vague! 1:Will the mower function without lowering the entire unit? In other words can I engage the mid PTO with the unit in the up position? I'd like to know before I try it.
2: Milkman said that the knob only turns clockwise. Once freed up, mine seems to turn either way. Problem? Wish I could actually see inside to see if the adjuster is doing anything.
Yes, the mower will work at any height.
The knob on our BX2660 will turn either direction as long as the deck is high enough that it doesnt bind.

mrrog: aczlan is right. I find a helpful way to visualize height adjustment is this: You have the deck all the way up to the top before you turn the knob. When you turn the knob to a particular setting you are really setting the BOTTOM STOP to which the deck will drop when you fully lower the hydraulics. With that in mind, go out on the concrete or flat surface of some sort and try it -- set the knob to some very low setting, lower the deck and see how far down/how close the pavement it goes. Then set the knob to the some very high setting and repeat the test, seeing how close to the pavement it goes. If all is right you'll be able to measure the difference and see that it is working correctly (or not.)

Further note: These BX decks are not intended for ground following, they are "suspension decks" meaning that most of the time they dangle from the tractor during cutting. The wheels then are really only anti-scalp wheels, NOT full time run on the ground wheels. Decks on the older Kubotas (like my other deck on a B2150) are full-time run-on-the-ground design decks. In my opinion the constant ground contact decks do a better job because the suspension decks rock around between the suspension level that you set and the anti-scalp wheel contact with the ground. That can leave uneven cutting and tends to be harder to get adjusted just right.

On my BX2370, I have to run my rpms at about 2500, and lift the deck til I hear the fluid bypass kick in.
Also, are you aware that you can only turn the height adjuster knob clockwise?
Try those couple of things on yours, and see if that helps.

The knob on my BX will turn clockwise and counterclockwise, same with the ZD21.

Again, Thank you boys for all the great info. I finally got a day off and am going to fire up the machine, and see what happens. At least I have the confidence to proceed, without fear of damaging the unit. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I find it incomprehensible that a big company like Kubota doesn't have one of their minions following this site to answer basic dumbface questions like mine.
To quote the previous governor of California. "I'll Be Back"! (with more dumb questions)
