I have a bottle of Bio Kleen that froze out in the garage. I've left other PS products out there with no problems. The MSDS for BK states that it will cryallize below 50* and to warm and mix before using.

The bottle froze solid so after it thaws and I mix it, is it still safe to use?

Thanks...

Maybe check their website? I would think that you will not have changed the chemistry enough to have done any harm.

Thanx..I did check their website and only found their MSDS which stated warm and mix.

Curious if anyone ever had any experience with frozen PS products. Stuff looks nasty IMO

Thanx again...

There website says to store regular PS above 10 degrees Faranheit.

ya...never had a problem with any of their other products before, but this Bio Kleen stuff says not below 50* which made me wonder if I should toss it out bcuz its frozen solid. After several hrs in the house, its still solid...maybe a little liquid, but not by much.

Had a bottle of mine crystalize on me and put it in microwave for short shots until it was all liquid again and then shook it up good and put it in the fuel.

good to know...thanx but I dont know if i wanna do the gamma ray deal...I'll just leave it inside til it thaws.

Chances are that it is crystalized and has dropped out of solution and not frozen, put my bottle next to wood stove for days and it did not change until the microwave.

I would have tossed it before it went near my micro.

I had a couple of gallon jugs of B99 bioD that precipitated out some yellow flake looking stuff when it got cold in the garage. I also microwaved it, took a long time to heat it up too. The warmth re-dissolved the suspended stuff then I used it up in my truck. I'd been buying the B99 to use as a lubricity additive in my diesel fuel, I overestimated how much I'd need in a year. I can't get the B99 in the winter so I have to buy it ahead of time.

You guys are brave. My old lady would kill me if I brought any fuel or additive in the house. Plus the who catching fire thing makes me nervous. Plus I eat out of that micro so no way I am putting something like that in it.

Keep in mind bioD is made from natural food oils.:)

In the lube oil industry, a dewaxing aid that we used was called Paraflow 149. It was very viscous stuff. It also worked as a pour depressant in lube oil. So, it would probably also work in diesel. The dosage was about 0.15%. That's about the dosage of PS in diesel.

P149 would greatly congeal at lower temperatures and might even appear solid. So, I'll bet this PS stuff you have is similar.

Just warm it up by putting the container in a bath of hot water. Then use it. I use Goop silicone cement and have to warm it up by putting it in hot water in cold weather. Works for it.

Wax can be marvelous lube oil if it's kept above about 100-120 F. It's just physical chemistry at work. Nothing magic about it.

Well...this AM it was still kinda frozen but by tonite it had thawed out just by leaving it in the house. Good idea about putting it in a pan of hot water Ralph, I'll keep that in mind if the need arises again.

thanks for the replies guys, guess I can use it safely now and U can bank on me keeping it from freezing again. Never thought it would after leaving other PS products out in the garage...

Chris.. do U have oil heat? U have an oil tank in the basement maybe? Wonder why your wife would accept that...if U have one... and not want a small bottle of PS that's sealed tightly? just thinking out loud...:D

No, propane. To each his own but I am not putting noting fuel related and surly nothing non food related in my microwave.

Plus, I can just hear the insurance company laugh when a claim is filed because some guy blows his house up warm up a fuel in the micro.

You guys need to learn more about industrial uses for microwaves. Ever try the old dried roll of masking tape, softening seals up for install, melting wax and drying some things. Go to Goodwill and get a cheap old one for the garage. Just don't do pets or kids.

I would not put a flammable liquid in a microwave!

I have some old fireworks that got too damp from storage. Will putting them in the microwave for 3 or 4 minutes bring them back to life?

Wish I had read the warning about pets sooner. I thought after washing the cat it would dry in 30 seconds in the microwave. WRONG. Don't tell the wife......she still thinks he died of natural causes.

I'm now in the market for one of those cheap Goodwill microwaves. I'll be doing lots of experiments and hopefully will come up with a lot of new and creative uses. I'll report back here with any positive results or any ''don't try this at home'' or at least not in the kitchen results.

Sincerely, Dr. Dirt
