Oil & Fuel Fuel Filter

........I was thinking too,if you strickly used the "off road" diesel, that probably would get your filters dirtier more quickly.
Why would off road diesel be dirtier from the refinery than on road diesel? I would believe handling of the fuel whereby they introduce dirt into it could be an issue but I still can't see why off road diesel would be more likely to be contaminated than on road diesel.

The spin in filter is the one that does the real work of filtering. It will be the fine micron filter. The sediment bowl filter is just that. It catches the large particles that will settle out and trap most of the water.

Off road diesel is higher in sulfur but is no dirtier than low sulfur Diesel or Ultra Low.

Well, maybe I'm wrong but I thought the red off road, isn't processed "refined" as much as the diesel I buy at the Sunoco station,so isn't it going to be just a bit dirtier of a fuel.

Boy I'm learning all the time. I always thought "off road diesel" was the same as "On Road Diesel" except for the lack of taxes and the additional of red dye. Kind of figured a fuel tanker arrived at the station, filled up the gasoline tanks and the diesel tanks and left. The station, by law, adds red dye to the off road fuels and that is that.

I just Googled this issue and looks like there is a web page kind of answering this question.
Does John Deere allow the use of Ultra-Low-Sulfur diesel fuel? : Ultra-Low-Sulfur diesel fuel in John Deere Engines.

The information contained in this web page looks like its old but still relevant, I think.

Do you have anything to support that statement?

In my area, heating oil & off road fuel are the same thing. Other than being dyed red & having no road taxes on it, I do not know what the difference is between it & road fuel.
