Fuel gelling?

In my opinion -- no.

Using PS has resulted in my truck being "parked" at various locations along the side of the road. Switched to "Howes Diesel Treat" and have resumed parking when and where I choose to park. If you get the hint...

When it gets really cold... and you start to get that first glimmer of "honey" to your fuel (even No. 1 with PS) the "Red" bottle of PS will get things movin' again.

A 32 oz bottle treats 100 gallons of diesel
I only tread 55 gallons with a 32 oz bottle.
Looks like that is plenty strong enough.

Yes, I recall a previous post where you suggested that you used more then the reccomended amount. I follow the directions fairly closely and the PS has worked perfectly even with #1 fuel :)

It sure is cold here this morning

Spilled some of that new USLD (No. 1 with PS) down the sides of my plastic fuel tank on my tractor last week and it hardend into a semi-solid streaks and never hit the floor...

Just startin' to get some "floaters" in the tank, too. Poured 16oz of the Red bottle PS into 15gallons of fuel -- and my tractor started the next morning.

This week it was +38F and sleet... The forecast is more of thawing and mixed rain/snow --- :(

(I've got those strap-on ice cleets on my boots, now!)

That's good to know AKFish:) I have a red bottle of that PS 911 but have not needed it.

It's warmed up to -10C here but it was -37C on Friday and pretty much -20C and colder all week. My shower in the back of the house has a frozen pipe so I am thinking my tractor, that hasn't been used all week, may have some gelling as well.

It has been cold here in Northern Maine -50 Friday, and -30 three days before that. To make a long story short my tractor started to gell up but I was able to get it back into the garage. My fuel was treated with Howes Diesel treatment, but it still gelled. After reading everyones experiences online, I went out and bought a bottle of PS 911, Do you guys think the 911 will react with the Howes, Am I safe to retreat my remaing fuel with the 911? What are your experiences? I did get my tractor running with a little bit of kerosene added to the fuel in the tank.

I would just add some more Howe's and continue to add some Kero. If you read the label on the PS 911 it is to be used on gelled fuel. It contains alcohol which isn't good for injector pump seals. Only use 911 in an emergency. 911 seems to be loosely used as a fix all for preventing gelled fuel when its intent is for fuel that is already gelled. I keep a bottle of PS 911 in both my diesel vehicles, but will only use it if I get stranded on the roadside with gelled fuel.

Sincerely, Dirt

-50F is COLD !!

It's hard to keep any straight #2 from gelling at those temps. Kero (which is basically #1) will help you lower the gel point beyond what Howes or the generally available additives will do.

I agree with Dirt;).

I wouldn't treat your fuel with 911 unless you are stranded. Use more Howe's in your fuel to insure it doesn't gell.

The lowest I've seen here is minus 2 F. That was a few days ago. I don't treat my fuel with anything. No gellin' here.
