Re: fuel seeping out/fixed

You can Bird, which is exactly what I do. Drain and blow out lines etc with the compressor. (I don't do much pressure washing in the winter anyway!)

Re: fuel seeping out/fixed

Raining in MI today so I went pressure washer shopping. Bought a relatively light one for $300. Couldn't clean my tractor today though (I guess I could leave it in the rain) because I don't have gas! I've got kerosene, diesel, 50:1, 20:1 but I don't have any gas! There's always tomorrow.

Anyway, looked at lots of models and none of them had a low point drain plug. You do have to blow them out and/or put some antifreeze in them. Owner's manual even says specifically to do this. I'm sure this will work fine but it sure seems like a drain plug would be simple. Oh well, they have gotten pretty cheap - I guess you get what you pay for.

Re: fuel seeping out/fixed

Interested to see that others are using pressure washers on their tractors and implements. I started with the same cheap Coleman unit from Home Depot mentioned above. Unfortunately, the pump froze up fairly quickly, and Coleman got out of the pressure washer business, so you couldn't repair them. I replaced the Coleman two years ago with a significantly better (and more expensive!) unit from Northern Tool & Equipment (Honda commercial engine, General pump).

While researching the replacement unit, I found a site with folks as interested in pressure washers as people here are in compact tractors: Dave's Pressure Washing Bulletin Board (http:/wj.net/actionis/wwwboard/index.html). General consensus back then seemed to be that you had to spend at least $600-$700 to get a decent pressure washer that would hold up. Northern's units seemed to have a good reputation. I've been happy with mine.

Shhhh...

My cheap Coleman unit is still working. I took the pump loose a couple of times trying to get the siphon to work, but there was nothing to the pump and it just keeps on plugging. When it goes, I will look up a better unit.
