Keep us posted......

Hopefully the storm will be south of you and it will go out to sea. We don't need more rain in the north. It's been raining for weeks. Not a good situation here.

Why so much idling time on a manual transmission? We don't do it with our cars or do you? Kubota likes to see Super UDT in HST applications in cold climates. I'm out of the loop on this one and must rely on folks who know what cold is. If Canada is that cold near the US border, whats it like way up north and why would anyone in their right mind live there? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm seeing many folks from BC and Alberta in California during the winter. Maybe thats their secret. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Your right with a manual transmission we don't need idling time to warm up the hydro fluid, but the engine itself takes 15 or 20 minutes at high idle (1200 rpm+) to warm up when it's -30 out (filling the yard with white smoke while it's at it). Around here most people do warm up their vehicles for 5 or 10 minutes before driving as well. Maybe longer if it's a diesel that hasn't been plugged in (and you can even get it started ...)
I didn't have block heater in the tractor last winter, but I've since put one in, so it should be better this year ...

As far as why anyone in their right mind would live here ... I've wondered the same about those in the south east where the hurricanes have been causing havoc this year. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Seriously, though, much good luck to those who have been and must still face the hurricanes.

To us, hurricanes are mother nature in its most raw pure form, not nice for our little human creations at times, but part of the greater order of the Earth that humbles us. This morning the exhaust clouds from Wilma circling counterclockwise in the sky over the rising sun were an ominous warning of what's coming though......

I'll post the oil data from the Kubota SUDT paper to compare to the Amsoil Syn 5W-30 when I get a chance soon so you can see the difference in viscosities from regular straight cut all weather (AW) tractor hydraulic oils.

BTW, those four wild boar heads mounted on the front of my barn were all shot within one hundred yards of where the Kubota is parked in that first photo, another good reason why I keep my handgun mounted on the dash of the L-3130. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree but the properties are very close.

old post on properties

Even with SUDT, Kubota asks for something like 20 minutes at 10 degrees. The reason is they want the time to bring the hydro fluid up to temp too before it gets worked too hard. Engine heat spills to the hydro fluid, so they claim.
