Bob I don't know about the K Guard gutters but I always thought if I was getting gutters I would get these. How the LeafFilter Gutter Protection System Works The ones you are looking at look like they work on the same principal as Gutter Helmet. If that is the case then my friend Joe you met on Sunday has used Gutter Helmet in an area with a lot of pines. He said that the pine needles got by the guard and plugged them up a couple times. It is under warenty though, that if they ever clog they will clean them, which they did.

I looked at gutter helmet a few years ago and I think K-Guard is similar in concept but improved from years of experience. My wife wants to go with Flip Clean since that is what we have now and we have had good experience with it. I got a quote from K Guard to day for $1200. I hope to do better with Flip Clean.

Thanks for Joe's input.

Our lovely doublewide has a shallow pitch and a huge maple hanging over top. Gutters are constantly plugged up. So we went and bought some gutter guards (flip up type from Home Depot).

Well, they sure kept the gutter clean, but due to the nature of the pitch of our roof they allowed debris to build up and water to go under the shingles... Needless to say we now have to re-roof our dumpy home..

I would like to use a match to re-roof, but the wife won't allow it.

I think if our pitch was steeper we would not have the buildup issue (also if we were at the house on a permanent basis might help as well)

Anyway

I decided to go with K Guard gutters (cover on top with slots to let water in). They are guaranteed for life with no cleaning required. If you have any problems they will come and fix/clean them.

I do have the final building approval and can move in. The stairs is on the back, but I do not have a picture yet. I also added a lean to cover the back concrete slab for fire wood and attachment storage. I am not quite finished with it yet. Hopefully I can take pictures tomorrow.

Attached are some pictures of the back and left side of the garage. The back has the stairs and a wood/attachment storage area. I hope to be able to store 4 attachments (I need a shelf to get 4) eventually and firewood.

The last picture (1045) is a picture of our church's sanctuary roof where it leaked through last Sunday and many times before. The nail is not a roofing nail and I cannot understand how it got there or why I am putting this picture here.

Most likely the nail was supposed to anchor the roof deck to the structural support below. However, it missed the mark and overtime gradudually worked up through the shingles until it caused a leak. This is a very common occurance when nailing is not done properly.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping somebody had an explanation.
