Garden question ? What animal would eat Jalapeno Peppers ?

OK - I checked the pepper plants ....the peppers were on only one of the plants and whatever ate on the two peppers also ate the stems of the pepper plant at the top and around the plant...like they pruned it....???? I did not see any horn worms or insects at all...

Bob, it's almost like something from the Twilight Zone, but Larro Darro just posted these photos in the "Things that annoy me" thread. Look familiar? I think you need to look no further. A bit of insecticide will probably turn up some green critters. Look around the ground for green poop like in his first picture.

I believe it to be the old chihuahua grasshopper rat worm,, some say they can jump and fly at the same time.. so they leave no tracks,:thumbsup:, you will only see where they been but not where they are going.:laughing:. my guess would be a rat,,Lou

Jim - Thanks to you for guiding me there...and to Larro for posting that...Exactly like mine....OK...Out I go with Seven dust...and I will also check again to try and catch the thieves.....before they do that much damage to me...At least they could finish one pepper before they ruin the next....Thanks again.

Up date//// I just went out and looked again...and found and killed (5) of those green worms....I killed 'em dead....Thanks again...by tomorrow they would have cleaned us out...

Worms, rabbits and box turtles would be my usual suspects. Turtles are pretty good at munching on stuff that is close to the ground.

I have a brazen cottontail in my garden each morning. I've never seen any indication that it eats any of my veggies. Every day, it's eating the leaves on careless weeds (pigweed) around the outside of the garden. Who knew that bunnies would help me weed my garden?:confused3:
