Gas or Electric Golf Cart for a Run-About?

BU is located in Winchester, Ky. and they ship fast. I got my front end bushings from them and they keep sending me catalogs. I've wondered about their enclosure and how easy it would be to get in and out, sure would be better riding in the winter even w/o a heater.

Other than say Craigslist or classified ads, are there other ways to find decent machines?

Ezgo golf cart

This 2007 EZGO (PDS drive) seems to be the most electric for the bang. They are program carts off lease. This one has OEM batteries.

That is only $500 more than carts 10-12 years older and not as smooth.

Gas is going to cost more I am learning.

Gale, that's a really good looking cart and sounds to me like a good buy if you decide to go electric. Buggies Unlimited will have all the accessories you could want for it too.

Find your area Club Car or EZGO distributor. I've bought my carts from the Club Car dealer in Canton, NY. They get truckloads of them back in the spring when golf courses swap out for new ones.

I have 4 old Harley Davidson golf carts. the one that I do have running you can see in the background on my avatar. the other I have parts for but never got around to rebuilding them. I have all kind of new engine parts for them, including jugs and pistons etc. The one that is running sips gas like a fat lady would sip on a diet drink. lol It is very good on gas. zman

I have had an eazy go electric for 5 years. Just top off the water and charge every couple of days. I have never been stranded by lack of battery.

Electric= more torque, quiet running, fewer parts to fail:thumbsup:

One thing you can do for the electric carts is replace the battery idiot light with a led gauge so you really know how much juice you have left. Some carts charge the battery when braking.

I've had my '99 Club for ten years. Replaced batteries and cables once and just had to put new brake shoes on it. Other than that I just water the batteries once a month, charge it every Sunday night, and work the snot out of it.

This one came from a KY regional golf course so they had less shipping cost perhaps. They say they do not buy off leased stuff out out of the deep south were they golf year round.

Golf cart pricing is really hard to understanding. Regardless of age if they start and run or have fair batteries they seem to still be at the $1000+ price even if 20-25 years old. I guess it is like a tractor that will start and run is going to bring $2000+

While I do not understand the difference really this one does have the PDS vs the older serial(?) drive. PDS is to be more powerful/faster I guess and must be more expensive for replacement parts too perhaps? :(

A real concern is I can see a lot of 60 second trips when servicing equipment because there is no "shop" to pull anything into and where my work bench, gease, oil, antifreeze, hand/power tools, spare parts, etc are located (until I get a work shop that I can pull equipment into) is on the far side of the house where there is no driveway and not much space but I can make a path with dense grade limestone for when the yard is wet like now.

I am thinking electric over gas since a gas engine would never get to operating temps often.
