Gas Transfer Pump

Are those spec'd for gas? I've only seen diesel. I use a trailer plug on my diesel pump and plug into the trailer plug on the bumper (has 6-pin with 12v aux). No need to open the hood and attach to the battery.
The aux circuit on my pickup is fused at 40 amps. I modified this 6-pin trailer connector so the circuit can be used with alligator clips. I use it with a compressor, pump and even a small winch

I do some residential lawn service and I am constently transporting and filling my 5gal cans.

I would like to find a safe, economical, reliable, electric fuel transfer pump that I can just draw fuel from my truck, havent found it yet!

Any suggestions
I was looking to do the same thing, but couldn't get a hose past the strain guard (don't know what else to call it) in the gas tank filler neck.

I have found that those $10 or $12 pumps have a very very
short life. They great for a little while.

My problem is my fuel tank is 7.4 gallons and when the pump
puts out over 11 gallons a minute to me its not worth the money
for something like that.

Same issue with my vehicles.
I found I could get a smaller diameter tube past the baffle and use a vacuum extractor to pull gas from the tank:

No batteries or cables to connect and no danger of sparks. Takes about 2 minutes and a few pulls on the handle to extract a gallon of gas. Then screw on the pour spout and use the can to fill your small engines.

I was in a truck stop one night many years ago, and a guy backed in next to me. My sleeper windows were tinted dark, so he couldn't see that I was just reading a book. I watched him open his side compartment and was immediately concerned about a pump he had mounted there with a long black hose. I moved across from him and went back to reading. Later I watched him get out and drop that hose into the tank of the truck where I had been parked. I called the police and they had a car in the area which caught him in the act. The donor truck driver had to be woke up to tell him what happened. He had just filled up his truck, and the police "suggested" that the pump owner pay for him to refill his truck. Then they took him downtown. I really wanted to go over there and siphon his tank dry just to add to his issues, but didn't have a hose or room in my tanks! I would probably been caught doing that anyway, just my luck!!

Being the cheapskate...uh, I mean "frugal", I got a 30 gal HD plastic drum (rated higher than HDPE) from my local car wash, for free, rinsed it out (had soap in it) and fill that with gas that I use in all 3 of my vehicles.

I use this pump. Changed the alligator clips to a 12v power point, plug it into the vehicle and go for it. Just don't leave the pump in the barrel when not in use.

I was the donor driver once myself!
Just filled up,refer running went to sleep, waiting on the shop to open Sat AM change a blown spring brake chamber on the company trailer.

Woke up and pulled into the shop and-what,only 1/2 tank?
Found one fuel cap a little loose and evidence of fuel spillage.
And I only had $3.00 left.

Just can't forget that one.

A few years back a thief, with a touch of mechanical genius, was busted near here for stealing gas. He had a delivery van fitted out with a couple of 55 gallon drums in the back. The floor of the van was cut out so a shallow pan on wheels could be deployed. The pan was equipped with a pump, hose and a device that would puncture a gas tank.

The thief would park next to the "donor" vehicle, slide the pan under it's gas tank, puncture it and pump the leaking gas from the pan into the 55 gallon drums in his van. If caught in the act, he would simply drive away leaving the pan behind. The guy managed to steal several thousand gallons of gas before he was finally caught.

IMO, the guy would probably have made more money if he had devoted his talents to an honest pursuit.
