Gas

Stihl recommends a minimum 89 octane. If you buy Stihl MotoMix formulated for 2-cycle engines, it is 92 octane. So, the fuel mix Stihl sells is higher than 89 octane, and one could infer that Stihl feels at least 92 octane would be preferred.

Motomix in Europe, where available, is alkylated petrol like Aspen - no alcohol in it at all, lasts a year or two, is more pleasant to work with - and costs a fortune.

Not sure if you have the same stuff, but I guess so.

MotoMix - Premixed Fuel - a convenient solution for those that want a reliable fuel

And yes, that does work out at $24 per US Gallon!

Many on here talk about running the engine dry of fuel for non use periods. The problem is that they really don't run dry. There is always a little fuel in the carb that quickly turns brown and dries to a honey texture varnish. Has this been an issue when re-fueling or are you cleaning the float bowl or diaphragm before use or after the run dry?
