Maybe you and some others might be willing to use the Wix #WL10285 filter, but for me I'll stick to the MF #4265229M91 filter and spend the additional $12.77 + - for the MF.

Yes, When I invest $33,000 in all of my tractor equipment, even just saving $50-$100 for questionable parts is not an option for me, and I will always purchase the applicable listed part.

What I do may not be for anyone but me and my opinion...

I will agree with this.

My earlier comment was not really about cost of a part but the inconvenience of going to the dealer to get it. I did mention shear bolts and price, but even the parts manual says to "procure locally", I'm not really worried about getting something else at a more reasonable price and in a more convenient way as long as it meets the requirements.

My real issue is that my dealer does not always stock a huge inventory of the parts, they sell MF SCUTs but that is not their "bread and butter". Going down there just to find out they need to order what I need is a huge waste of time. If I need to order something I'd like to be able to order it without spending an hour doing so and then calling them multiple times to see if it's come in and then going back to pick it up.

Thanks to this topic I now have a short list of places that I can look for things. I've found that finding these places is not always and easy task.

My first shear pin purchase about 10 years ago MF price was about $3.33 / $3.13 each (10 of each);and the local Kubota dealer made their own shear pin in house (they were 1/4" short in length & the grooves were terrible) but the price was $1.60 .$1.49 so I decided to used the MF shear pins.

In 2016 I purchase 10 more MF shear pins (auger) and they were $5.81 (2010 price was $3.13).

I usually get the Napa filters (what filters they have) locally for the GC tractors when they have their filter sale, also use their 50/50 antifreeze and synthetic grease.

Hydraulic filter, block heater, some fuel line/fittings, and Misc (that others do not have) are purchased from my MF dealer (150 miles away), I send the parts guy/gal an email with the MF part numbers and they email me back with the prices, then I send the email back telling them to order the parts (they have my credit card/address on file) for me, and they ship direct to my house.

I order all of my fluids from Amsoil (online).

This has worked out great for me...

I believe each person has to find out what works for themselves and yes with some adjustments.

have a 2009 gc2400 with 455 hours, have been using WIX 57089 since new with no issues, tractor also has hydraulics turned up 10% over stock. use front end loader and 4' brush hog.
