I have not seen the chain setup. Do you adjust the top link shorter and simply put a chain around the end and the top of the cutter connection?

You remove the top link and replace it with a length of chain

So adjustment is limited or not at all. Any drawbacks?

Drawback is using too much chain and finding a dip where it the back of the cutter going up and the chain wraps around your PTO shaft

I wouldn't be able to use a 5 footer on the JD 2025R even though it has the hp (5 hp/ft) for it. The sides of the cutter would hang out past the rear wheels for about 6" on both sides. I'd be forever hanging it up on those front corners on the trails and other tight spots that I have to mow.

Had a 4 footer on the 18.5 hp JD 4010. Did fine with it but same issue to use a wider one, and it does not have the hp for a 5 footer.
