Part number is correct. While you have things exposed, check the key switch for corrosion on the bottom, and clean up the connectors in the fuse box.

There are also metal bushings that go inside the rubber washers.

The new ones were a little shorter than the original ones.

If you get some sheet rubber the right thickness, you can make your own washers for a fraction of the the ridiculous price from MF.

Use a hole saw, to cut them out of the sheet.

And yes, you can replace them without taking the wheel off. It is tricky, but possible.

One helpful hint is to use something sticky to attach the washers, and the bushings to the rubbers. I used a very small piece of butyl tape. Then, you fish the washers into place with anything that gets it done. Once in place, use an awl, or thin metal punch, or rod to align everything with the hole.

I know this is an old post but I figured no sense in starting a new thread. My question is what is the purpose of the rubber bushings and collars? What issues would arise from removing them and bolting the control valve solid? Thoughts?

Vibration. There would be no isolation of the steering orbital valve from the tractor frame. Excess vibration has a tendency to loosen fittings/bolts, or crack steel welds. I got the OEM rubber washers for convenience, you can always make up your own.

Yep, no other reason makes any sense.

Vibration in a steering wheel is, to say the least, not enjoyable.

I removed mine after a couple years when the rubber bushings had disintegrated. I fail to see they served any purpose other than to cause play in the steering wheel.

On second thought, there is another reason for the rubber mounts.

If someone grabs and pulls the steering wheel to mount the machine, where would all that stress be applied, if there is no give in the controller mounts?

I don't have the current price. But, I'll take a WAG, that part, (the steering wheel controller), is north of $1k, now.

And, there have been accounts of them leaking from being tugged on, even with the rubber mounts.

It is just a simple hydraulic control unit with hoses. The shock mounts allow more movement from someone grabbing it than simply bolting it solid. I had my tractor for 20 years after I hard mounted it and never experience any trouble from doing so.

Thanks.

"Check availability and delivery information", is manufacturer speak for, the product you need this part for, is more than 10 years out of production. So, since we are no longer "legally obligated" to provide you with parts, we aren't going to stock it, and you are probably sol.

I hope I am wrong. But, I have seen this far too many times, to be optimistic.

It's also possible it's superseded by the later version. They should put that information on there, if it's the case.
