GEARS gRIND WHEN TRYING TO ENGAUGE PTO ON BUSH HOG

Having a heck of time, every time I use the pto gears grinding. any help would be great

Are you engaging the PTO at idle speed?

My mower will grind a gear or two sometimes when it starts, but it's nothing major.

Likely 2 stage clutch. Make sure to fully depress the clutch, allow the PTO to stop turning, then engage, all at low engine RPM.

This. It's indeed a 2 stage clutch.

Essentially, the first half of the clutch pedal stroke is for the transmission gears, then the second half of the stroke is for the PTO.
