Generac Standby Generator Owners?

/ Generac Standby Generator Owners? #41
Interesting reading this thread. We just signed to do a solar install and as part of the solar install we are also doing a stand-by generator. I'm looking at the 13kw Generac with the 200-amp SE Transfer Switch. I will then have a friend that owns his own HVAC company do the install as one of his offerings his backup generator installs. He priced it to me at $2200 (including tax) if I supply the generator, battery, and pad. He loaned me his form the week of Christmas and I poured the concrete pad. Just waiting to order the generator now. Hoping to do the install at the end of January. We are in agreement with the install, if we have crappy/bitter cold weather it will wait until decent weather, but as of late we've been 40+ degrees. So we will see. Anxious to get that and the solar up and running to see how it all behaves.

Our Central Maine Isuzu diesel generator is 12.5 kw and does one whole 200 amp panel that includes the auto switch that we got from Gentron (the Generac outfit that supplies the other parts).

I don't know how much we paid our electrician. Not likely it was more that $2,200. He had to move breakers around between the two 200 amp panels. Quite a mess for a while. I was recovering from congestive heart failure and wasn't worth much. Wife acted as his chief helper. The Isuzu was right at $10k and worth every bit: a real gem.

Neighbor set the generator in place with his JD and forklift.
