Interesting reading this thread. We just signed to do a solar install and as part of the solar install we are also doing a stand-by generator. I'm looking at the 13kw Generac with the 200-amp SE Transfer Switch. I will then have a friend that owns his own HVAC company do the install as one of his offerings his backup generator installs. He priced it to me at $2200 (including tax) if I supply the generator, battery, and pad. He loaned me his form the week of Christmas and I poured the concrete pad. Just waiting to order the generator now. Hoping to do the install at the end of January. We are in agreement with the install, if we have crappy/bitter cold weather it will wait until decent weather, but as of late we've been 40+ degrees. So we will see. Anxious to get that and the solar up and running to see how it all behaves.
